UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy will be appealing his no contest result against Ben Sosoli.

Hardy outpointed Sosoli over three rounds to initially get the unanimous decision win at UFC Boston last week. However, it was later overturned as Hardy used an inhaler in between the second and third rounds.

He received permission after asking a nearby commission inspector — stating it was USADA-approved — before using it. However, using an inhaler is illegal regardless as Hardy’s win as well as bonus was taken away from him. But because he did receive permission, the former NFL star now plans on appealing the result:

“I think it’s something that we’re gonna have to fight out in court and figure it out,” Hardy said (via ESPN). “The long and short of it is I had no idea [it was against the rules].”

Hardy claimed to have notified the doctor, UFC and USADA about the inhaler. But given that he’s only been in the sport since 2018, he admits he’s still unsure on all the rules.

“I’m in the middle of figuring it all out,” Hardy added. “This is all new to me. As shocking as it may be, Greg Hardy does not know all.”

Many thought that Hardy was slowing down in the second round and that the inhaler gave him an advantage in the third. Others claim using an inhaler has no impact other than to help asthmatic users with their breathing.

For Hardy, he claims to have not needed the inhaler at all. But given that he received permission, he did not want to put himself at a disadvantage:

“I didn’t need it at all,” Hardy said. “I wanted to take the inhaler, because I have asthma and I was at a breathing disadvantage. … When they’re telling you [that] you can, you don’t want to continue putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don’t have to.”

What do you make of Hardy’s plans to appeal the result?

Yair Rodriguez picked up a big win over Jeremy Stephens in the UFC Boston co-main event over the weekend.

Both men built up quite the heated rivalry with one another after their UFC Mexico City debacle, creating a buzz around their rematch this past weekend. The pair put on a great back-and-forth brawl, which Rodriguez won on the scorecards via unanimous decision. Now, the Mexican striker has taken to Instagram to release a lengthy statement after his victory.

Rodriguez gave respect to Stephens for their fight, and also called for a title opportunity down the road.

“I have a great team, there are plenty of words to express such gratitude, not only to my coaches but also to my friends and my family for always being with me. Despite all the bitterness that can become an experience, we always look for the positive side of things and improve as human beings. I had a pending account against a great rival, I knew it would be a hard test in my career but I feel grateful and blessed by God for the opportunity to win this victory.

“Focused and improving day by day, I am sure that I will reach the top in this world. I go with everything and everything but I do not go alone .. . I HAVE A GREAT TEAM! . My respects for this warrior who, despite all that happened before this fight at the end, showed respect and that this is only part of the “business” business. .

“I only seek to face the best of the best in the division and I hope that the @ufc after 9 fights for them, within which 8 are victories, 7 bonuses for fights and performances of the night, give me the opportunity to fight Soon for a world title.”

. Rodriguez is now on a two-fight win streak with his win over Stephens, not having lost since suffering his only UFC defeat to Frankie Edgar via TKO in 2017. Now, “El Pantera” has lined himself up for a high-level matchup next, which could very well put him in title contention at 145 pounds.

What do you think about Rodriguez’s comments on Stephens after their bout at UFC Boston?

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman appears to be at a crossroads following his latest setback.

Weidman was making his light heavyweight debut against Dominick Reyes in the UFC Boston headliner on Friday night. However, the contest didn’t last long as Reyes dropped the former middleweight champion and proceeded to finish him in the first round.

For Weidman, it was a fifth loss in his last six outings with all of them coming by way of knockout. And following his loss to Reyes, there were more calls from fans for him to retire despite “The All American” saying he will be back stronger.

It’s certainly something White will be discussing with him soon:

“What he said tonight didn’t sound to me like he’s considering retirement,” White said at the post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “So it’s a conversation that he and I definitely need to have.

“This was his move up to light heavyweight, which obviously didn’t go well for him. So maybe he goes back down to middleweight, or thinks about maybe retiring.”

A move back to middleweight doesn’t sound likely. But Weidman could still bounce back given the lack of depth in the light heavyweight division. It would all be for nothing, though, if his chin can no longer hold up.

What do you think Weidman should do next?
