The Boston crowd turned out for the event with an attendance number of 12,066, hauling in a $1,124,765 gate. There were also some well-deserved post-fight bonuses handed out.

Headlining the preliminary card, Charles Rosa finished Manny Bermudez in the first round with a smooth armbar off his back. Rosa got the verbal submission from Bermudez, and will also take home $50,000 for a Performance Of The Night bonus.

In the co-main event, Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez finally got to settle their bad blood rivalry. The two featherweights went three rounds and put on an absolute war of a fight, but it was the Mexican striker who took home the decision victory when it was all said and done. However, both men will take home an extra $50,000 for a Fight Of The Night bonus.

Finally, in the main event, Dominick Reyes made a big statement when he finished ex-middleweight champion Chris Weidman in under two minutes via knockout. Along with a likely light heavyweight title shot next, Reyes will take home a $50,000 Performance Of The Night bonus.

The UFC Boston main event featured a very interesting debut. Former 185-pound king Chris Weidman jumped up to 205 pounds to take on rising prospect Dominick Reyes. “The All American” was hoping for a big win to propel him into a massive showdown with Jon Jones.

Weidman entered the contest having lost four of his last five, those four all coming by way of TKO. In his last outing, Weidman was knocked out by Ronaldo Souza in the third round of their UFC 230 meeting. As for Reyes, he entered the fight undefeated at 11-0 and on the doorstep of a light heavyweight title opportunity.

Reyes had secured five Octagon victories over names including Jared Cannonier, Ovince Saint Preux, and Volkan Oezdemir. A win over a former champion in Weidman would’ve certainly put him right into the title mix.

In the fight, Weidman failed on a few early takedowns before Reyes connected on a big step-back shot that dropped the former middleweight champ. After some hammerfists on the ground, Weidman was out, and Reyes was declared the winner. It was a massive win for the young 205-pound contender.

A lot of mixed martial arts (MMA) fans were looking forward to tonight’s (Fri. October 18, 2019) UFC Boston co-main event between Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez.

The pair were initially scheduled to headline UFC Mexico City last month. While they did headline, the fight only lasted a few seconds, as “El Pantera” nailed Stephens with an eye poke early. The eye poke was so bad, Stephens was unable to continue. In the aftermath, some bad blood began to boil over between the pair, with Pantera accusing Stephens of milking the poke, leading to a scuffle in the lobby of their Mexico hotel.

As a result, the UFC rebooked the fight for tonight inside the TD Garden in Boston, where Stephens and Rodriguez co-main evented the night. In the fight, Rodriguez looked to take control early on, dropping Stephens with a body kick badly in the second round. However, Stephens refused to be finished, fighting back and taking control to end the round.

Stephens then dominated the third round with ground-and-pound after getting a takedown. When it was all said and done, both men embraced before Rodriguez was awarded the unanimous decision win. It was a tremendous fight put on by two absolute warriors
