Illir Latifi vs. Tyson Pedro

Ryan Bader with his flying knee really put the nail in the coffin by sending Latifi’s already downward headed ranking out of the top ten. Bader has gone on to become the Bellator champ since then and Latifi on the other hand has a chance to make somewhat of a comeback when he faces Tyson Pedro. If Latifi gets the better of Pedro in UFC Fight Night 215, he will find himself back in the top ten and that is probably the only thing on his mind right now!

Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Sarah Moras

Both these fighters have struggled with their UFC careers thus far. At least for one of them, that is about to change at UFC 215. It is not inexperience which has let them down, both these women have a ton of fights under their belts and have yet failed to showcase any real improvement. From the looks of it, the loser here could be on her way out of UFC and into Invicta. Smith has been fighting regularly but the results haven’t turned out as she may have hoped while on the other hand, Moras has had dry spells while out injured.

Gavin Tucker vs. Rick Glenn

Glenn returned to the UFC on UFC fight night 208, but his returning fight did not go the way he would have hoped. The former WSOF featherweight champ really struggled to get going. On the other hand, Tucker made an impressive UFC debut in February and will look to put on just as impressive a fight when he comes up against Glenn. This is going to be a very unpredictable match up, and we will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Kajan Johnson vs. Adriano Martins

The infamous Kajan Johnson is back after a two month sabbatical. He was thrown out of the UFC athlete retreat after having rejected the Reebok deal. The question on everyone’s mind is if he has been training and kept himself well conditioned, or has he slipped and gotten out of shape? His opponent is going to be Adriano Martins who has been a consistent performer thus far and will certainly be a worthy challenge for Johnson on his return.

UFC 215: Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko

September 9th has been announced as the date for UFC Fight Night 215 and the fight card is certainly appetizing. September 9th has been announced as the date for UFC Fight Night 215 and the fight card is certainly appetizing. The title fight for the men is where Demetrious Johnson will be looking to defend his championship title for a record 11th time against second seeded Ray Borg. While on the women’s end too there is a title up for the taking when Amanda Nunes comes up against Valentina Shevchenko.
This fight certainly has all eyes on it considering that it was actually scheduled to take place during UFC 213 itself. However, that ended up not happening as unfortunately Nunes pulled out citing an injury only hours before show time. Obviously, there was a lot of controversy about her decision to not fight, and the speculation mostly was premised around assumptions that Nunes pulled out not actually because of an injury but rather because she just got cold feet. However, it wasn’t long before the fight was rescheduled to take place in UFC 215 and now, it’s just around the corner.
These two have fought each other before back in 2015 when Nunes was able to amass enough points and then fend of late dominance by Shevchenko to be declared the winner by decision. However, what the women were back then is only a shadow of who they are today. They have both improved vastly in all aspects of their fighting and this time, it is going to be a whole different affair. They are both at the very top of the rankings for their weight division and it is certainly going to be a competitive affair.
In terms of predictions, we have some reference point here since a lot of predictions were made back during UFC 213, and that pretty much still holds true. Nunes might have got the better of Shevchenko back in 2015, but it was clear at the end of that bout that Shevchenko has the skills and endurance to give it back to Nunes, she just ran out of time. We believe she will go for it right from the go this time around. Shevchenko to win by unanimous decision.

The date and fight card for the highly anticipated UFC Fight Night 215 has been announced and one of the two title fights is Demetrious Johnson vs Ray Borg. Statistically speaking, Ray Borg is the rightful contender to come up against the current champion Demetrious Johnson. However, the UFC and Dana White initially had other plans and wanted Johnson to face off against the number three ranked TJ Dilshaw. UFC’s vision to pit Johnson against Dilshaw did not really make sense provided that Borg was above Dilshaw in the rankings, and this public push by the UFC obviously did not bode well with Borg.
Despite being ignored, Borg is actually a solid fighter who is where he is because he completely deserves it. Furthermore, he has rightfully earned this opportunity to face off against Demetrious Johnson. Since he made his UFC debut in the back in 2014, Borg has visibly improved many folds in all aspects of his fighting and has become a serious contender. He is coming off the heels of a two fight victory which may not seem that impressive on paper, but the decisiveness and ease with which he put away his last opponent was highly convincing and may just have even unsettled Demetrious Johnson a little bit.
Can Ray Borg do what the likes of Joseph Benavidez, John Dodson and Henry Cejudofailed and actually trump Demetrious Johnson? We will just have to wait and see. Johnson has more than just the title on the line, if he is able to defeat Ray Borg than he will essentially set a new world record for having defended the title a staggering 11 times. Johnson is on a high, it is nearly his fifth anniversary as the champ and just recently, he won the ESPY for the best fighter in 2016.
In terms of a prediction, we are pretty certain Johnson is just too much for Borg to handle at this time. Borg, in his own right, certainly deserves the chance to prove us wrong. Can he actually do it in UFC 215? Not in our books.
