Michelle ‘The Karate Hottie’ Waterson is back in the win column. Although dropping the opening two frames, a much more active Waterson rallied for the final three rounds, to score a hugely-entertaining split decision victory over fellow former Invicta FC champion, Angela ‘Overkill’ Hill.

Often finding herself on the wrong side of judge’s scorecards in the past, a seemingly reinvigorated Waterson managed to rebound from a close decision defeat to Carla Esparza in May – to outstrike Hill for three of five rounds. Dealing with some significant swelling above her left eye and below her right eye, respectively – Waterson even managed to showcase her grappling prowess.

With the tide taking a definite turn, the now Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, Waterson secured a hugely important takedown. In the penultimate and final frame, the Albuquerque native scored multiple side kicks and utilized her boxing to narrowly out strike a very game, Hill. With her first win of the year notched, Waterson called for a strawweight title-eliminator next.

With a massive, albeit controversial rallying effort, TUF 3 feature, Ed ‘Short Fuse’ Herman somehow managed to survive a two-round beating, to score a third-round kimura win over ‘Slo’ Mike Rodriguez.

Surviving a nasty counter elbow by Rodriguez in the first-frame, Herman was hit with a body shot midway through the second round – with referee Chris Tognoni making a massive mistake, separating the two due to an inadvertent groin strike. During replays, Rodriguez seems to land a knee to the left midsection of Herman – with the wily veteran using the allotted time to recover.

Even in the third-round, Herman faced massive adversity with a slew of elbow strikes at the fence, with referee, Tognoni again allowing the nearly 40-year-old to continue, before he locked up a mounted kimura over Rodriguez, to prevent a certain unanimous decision defeat.

Opening his 165-pound catchweight pairing at pace, Turner scored an early jab which caught the attention of Weaver from the get-go.

Before the end of the opening-frame, Turner dropped Weaver with a right hook and a straight combination, before closing the show in the penultimate round. Renowned for his ability on the feet, Turner, a teammate of Roosevelt Roberts who recently submitted, Weaver – dropped the Alabama native once more, before scoring an eye-catching rear-naked choke triumph.
