With a mixture of debilitating calf kicks in the opening two rounds and smothering wreslting, Austrian born light heavyweight upstart, Aleksandar Raki? scored his biggest career win to date – with a 30-27 (x2), and 30-26 unanimous judging win over one-time title challenger, Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith.

Opening up aggressively in our short-notice three-round main event, the Vienna native gave Nebraska veteran, Smith something to think about early and often in the opening-frame, chopping away at the lead right leg, caused a buckle midway through the premier round. On paper, Smith would have the consensus grappling advantage, but it was Raki? who dominated on top with just over twelve minutes of control time over the #5 ranked 205-pound challenger.

Raki? can continue his assault toward his first light heavyweight title tilt with his return to the winner’s enclosure, while Smith must regroup with two straight defeats following his May bludgeoning at the hands of Glover Teixeira.

In arguably the best performance of his long stint at welterweight, ‘The Haitian Sensation’ Neil Magny picked up a mostly one-sided unanimous decision win over former division best, ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler. With the victory, the Elevation Fight Team trainee moves closer to Georges St-Pierre’s record for most wins in the history of the welterweight division, needing just two more to equal the former champion.

Displaying his wrestling chaps early and often, Magny scored four successful takedown attempts opposite short-notice replacement, Lawler – controlling the veteran former gold-holder on cue from the top. Landing significantly more total strikes, Magny almost setup a twister in the second-frame – with Lawler defending expertly.

Even in the third round, Magny, shrewdly pulled-guard following a decent counter from Lawler, forcing a reset. Popping a constant jab and a blood summoning step-in knee, Magny picked up his third consecutive win in 2020 with a 30-27 (x3) unanimous decision win.

Putting a real statement on his performance which was jam-packed with grappling scrambles, Lamas established mount in the final moments of the third frame, and laid down elbows and ground-and-pound to sway the judge’s decision before the klaxon. During his post-fight interview with current lightweight contender, Paul ‘The Irish Dragon’ Felder, an emotional Lamas hinted at a possible retirement from the sport, citing a need to speak with his family about the decision first.
