Muhammad Mokaev has revealed he has had to undergo surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder he suffered in training. Despite this, the prospect still remains hopeful he will be able to compete at UFC 286, London.
Muhammad Mokaev has suffered a major setback as he was aiming to build upon his impressive run in 2022. Signing with the promotion in 2022 Mokaev went an impressive 3-0 last year as he introduced himself to the flyweight division.
Mokaev started the year off with an impressive finish of Cody Durden and UFC London. The former IMMAF champion would then follow up this victory with a win over Charles Johnson before closing the year out by submitting Malcolm Gordon at UFC 280.
However unfortunately for the rising contender, he has suffered a setback, damaging his shoulder in training which resulted in a dislocation that ultimately needed surgery.
Muhammad Mokaev Reveals Dislocated Shoulder Injury
Taking to his social media to announce the news, Mokaev recalled a similar position he found himself in prior to UFC London last year.
“Unfortunately I have dislocated my shoulder, now I will wait for the operation!” Mokaev wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to all my supporters I will be back as soon as possible, I promise you! Love you all!
“Exact same day last year I [broke] my hand before my UFC debut in London, I will do everything to fight on [the] UFC London card! I tried to keep the operation till after the fight but I can’t even lift my arm.”
It remains unknown how long Muhammad Mokaev will be sidelined despite the undefeated Brit still aiming to compete at UFC 286, scheduled to take place on March 18th.
Should Mokaev miss out on the London card, you can guarantee that he will aim to return to competition soon after as he aims to continue climbing up the flyweight rankings.

Grant Dawson just bought himself a ticket for the Paddy Pimblett lottery.
From the moment Pimblett’s hype train kicked on its engine, fighters have been chomping at the bit to put the Liverpudlian’s lights out. Nebraska native Grant Dawson added his name to the list. While engaging in a Q&A session with fans for Millions.co on Instagram, Dawson revealed that he is working to get a fight with ‘The Baddy’ when the UFC returns to London in March.
“I would love to fight against Paddy,” Dawson said. “We are asking for that fight in London, March 18th. I will go to his home turf to fight him, and to prove that Scousers get knocked out” (h/t MMA Junkie).
Grand Dawson is currently riding a 10-fight win streak dating back to 2016. In 2017, he earned his way into the UFC with a second-round submission over Adrian Diaz on Dana White‘s Contender Series. Since then, ‘KGD’ has earned seven straight in the Octagon, his most recent victory coming against Olympic silver medalist Mark O. Madsen in November.
Grant Dawson and Paddy Pimblett Have Both Earned Wins Over Jared Gordon
Paddy Pimblett is coming off his fourth straight win inside the Octagon, though that victory came with an oversized helping of controversy. Scoring a unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon in the UFC 282 co-main event, a majority of fans, fighters, and generally anyone with eyeballs scored the bout in favor of Jared Gordon. Some even went so far as to call it the worst decision in UFC history. The loss was Gordon’s second defeat in his last three fights with the other loss coming against Grant Dawson.
If Grant Dawson doesn’t get his wish for a showdown with ‘The Baddy’ in London, he has a few other names picked out for his return to the Octagon in 2023.
“If that doesn’t happen, I’m looking for Tony Ferguson,” Dawson said.” If that doesn’t happen, I’m looking for Dan Hooker. If that doesn’t happen, I don’t know what to tell you. Who else?”

The UFC has drawn the curtain on what has been another scintillating year for the promotion. Numerous pay-per-view events and fight night cards took to our screens nearly every single week of the year it’s hard to narrow down our ‘Event of the Year’.
With so many events to choose from we got our team of writers here at LowKickMMA to vote on what was their event of the year in 2022. Let us take a look at how the results broke down.
Event of the Year: UFC London: Volkov vs. Aspinall (5 Votes)
Taking the crown as our Event of the Year for 2022 was none other than UFC London in March. Despite not being of the promotions pay-per-view events of the year the atmosphere inside the arena gave off exactly that. IMMAF champion and now flyweight contender, Muhammad Mokaev introduced himself to the UFC with his sub-minute submission victory over Cody Durden. The pride of Wales, Jack Shore extended his undefeated run to 16-0 with a calculated decision victory over Timur Valiev.
Ju-Jitsu ace Paul Craig implemented his truly unique fighting style onto Nikita Krylov with supreme effect, submitting the Ukrainian in the first round. Scouse supremacy reigned in London as Molly McCann delivered her iconic spinning elbow knockout and Paddy Pimblett secured his second finish in the promotion against Rodrigo Vargas.
Arnold Allen took down a veteran of the sport and continued his impressive run inside the promotion after defeating Dan Hooker via TKO. Saving the best till last, Tom Aspinall announced himself as a real threat to the heavyweight division with a flawless performance against longstanding UFC veteran Alexander Volkov, submitting him in the opening minutes of the first round.
Honorable Mentions
UFC 281: Adesanya vs. Pereira (4 Votes)
Coming in at a close second was UFC 281 with 4 votes. When a card only requires the use of the ringside judges on three occasions you can be sure that it delivered, and this is exactly the case for UFC 281. Carlos Ulberg kicked off the action with a brutal knockout of Nicolae Negumereanu. Matt Frevola put an end to highly touted prospect Ottman Azaitar’s undefeated streak, knocking out the previously 13-0 lightweight in the first round. Erin Blanchfield unveiled her true potential after providing an absolutely dominant performance submitting Molly McCann.
Chris Gutierrez gave Frankie Edgar a sour ending to his career inside the octagon after he caught the 35-fight veteran with a brutal flying knee knockout. Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler turned in what many fans considered ‘fight of the year’ resulting in ‘The Diamond’ submitting the fellow former title challenger in the final round. Weili Zhang reclaimed her UFC strawweight championship after she submitted Carla Esparza.
Saving the best till last once again, Alex Pereira put a stop to arguably one the greatest middleweights of all time’s reign at the top of the division when he secured a TKO and his third victory over then champion, Israel Adesanya. Had UFC London not delivered on all aspects, it is almost certain UFC 281 would have been crowned Event of the Year.
UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka (2 Votes)
Taking the third and final sport in our Event of the Year competition is UFC 275 with 2 votes. Silvana Gomez Juarez acquired the first finish of the evening when she secured a technical knockout over Na Liang. Brendan Allen would then shortly follow up extending his good form in 2022 with a unanimous decision victory over Jacob Malkoun. Jack Della Maddalena overcame his toughest test to date since signing for the promotion and put his exquisite boxing ability to good use to see off Ramazan Emeev in the very first round.
Following on from Maddalena, Jake Matthews turned in his best performance to date after he brutally knocked out Andre Fialho in the second round. Weili Zhang secured herself another shot at her previously held UFC strawweight title when she dispatched former title holder Joanna Jedrzejczyk with a spinning back fist, sending the former champion into retirement.
Valentina Shevchenko overcame her toughest title challenger to date (or did not in some people’s eyes) when she edged out a split decision over Brazil’s Talia Santos.
In the main event, Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira delivered arguably one of the best fights of the year in their back-and-forth war for the UFC light heavyweight championship. Just seconds remained in the matchup and had the bout gone to the judges’ scorecard, Glover Teixeira would have secured his first successful title defense at the pinnacle of the 205-pound division. However, this was not to be as Jiri Prochazka submitted the Brazilian in the dying moments to crown himself as the new UFC light heavyweight champion of the world.

Following the announcement of the promotion returning to the UK in March with UFC 286, do you believe it could deliver the same level of excitement as before?

Drew Dober will look to make it three in a row on Saturday night when he steps into the Octagon with the returning ‘King’ Bobby Green. Dober scored back-to-back knockouts against Terrance McKinney and Rafael Alves in his last two outings. He’ll go for a third in the promotion’s final event of 2022, but Dober already has his sights set on a big fight for 2023.
Speaking at the UFC Vegas 66 media event, Dober shared his desire to square off with fast-rising lightweight star Paddy Pimblett when the promotion returns to London in March. While that would certainly be a fun matchup for fans, Drew Dober is not convinced that Dana White and company would ever let it happen.
“No, the UFC will not let me fight him. Let’s be honest, we watched his last fight and we know what I’m capable of. That would be a fun one,” Dober said. “I just want to fight in London at that O2 Arena. So if Paddy says yes I’m all for it. But we all know that we’ve got Dana, the UFC, and all those guys, they won’t let that happen.”
Drew Dober Believes Star Power Carries a Lot of Weight With MMA Judges
Drew Dober’s interest in a fight with Pimblett is hot on the heels of the Liverpudlian’s victory over Jared ‘Flash’ Gordon in the UFC 282 co-main event. ‘The Baddy’ was handed a highly questionable unanimous decision victory. Sharing his thoughts on the outcome, Dober believes that Paddy Pimblett’s star power played a significant role in the judges’ decision.
“I mean, I gotta go back and watch it again,” Dober said. “There is a lot of talking. My opinion on the entire matter is there’s something to star power in the judges’ decisions. We’re watching Octagon control and effectiveness and all this other stuff, star power is something you’ve also got to get over. So when you’re fighting a guy as big as Paddy, you’ve got to do more than just five more punches, you know?” (h/t BJPenn.com).
Practically everyone has weighed in on the controversial decision with Michael Bisping, Aljamain Sterling, Henry Cejudo, Chael Sonnen, Chris Weidman, ‘Big’ John McCarthy, Anthony Smith, Joe Rogan, and Dominick Cruz all going on record believing Jared Gordon was the rightful winner of the co-main clash. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Dana White is ready to bring the ruckus when the UFC returns to London in 2023.
At UFC 278, England-native Leon Edwards shocked the world with his picture-perfect head kick knockout of Kamaru Usman to capture the UFC welterweight championship. In the immediate aftermath, UFC President Dana White knew one thing for certain: The UFC is going back to London.
“We’re coming back to England with the rematch,” White said in an interview with BT Sport. “Leon Edwards in his home country in England. I’m getting goosebumps just telling you this. It’s been so long since we’ve brought a big title fight back to the UK and we’re gonna make that card look like [UFC 280]. And I’m so excited because you know how much I love the fans in England and the UK. I’m f*cking pumped!”
Dana White Will Give Khamzat Chimaev One More Chance at Welterweight
Another fighter Dana White would like to see as part of their stacked return to London in 2023 is Khamzat Chimaev. Coming off a massive weight miss ahead of his previously scheduled main event clash with Nate Diaz, many, including White, believed a move to middleweight was next for the Chechen-born fighter. However, Dana White is willing to give Chimaev one more shot at welterweight which he would like to see happen in London.
“Khamzat wants to fight at 170. I’m gonna give him one more opportunity to fight at 170. He needs to deliver and make the weight and I would love to do that fight in England too.
“I’m telling you, I’m gonna bring a bada** card to England. English fans have been incredible. They’re so fun. They bring such great energy to the place. And then finally, when Leon Edwards won that fight [at UFC 278], I literally walked right in the back and said, ‘We’re going to England boys.’ I said, ‘F*ck it. Move this whole schedule. We’re going to England.’ England deserves this and Leon Edwards deserves this and I’m excited. I can’t wait.”
