Michael Bisping has chimed in on the fight between Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal that is being held at UFC 269.

The long awaited grudge match between Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards and Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal was finally made, and will be taking place on an exciting fight card in December. Edwards is currently on a 9 fight win streak and has been demanding a title shot. The only fight he was considering taking was the Masvidal fight if the price was right. Well, the price must have been right as Edwards tweeted out “Millionaire” after agreeing to fight ‘Gamebred’ on December 11.

Former Middleweight champ turned analyst, Michael Bisping weighed in on the fight between the two, “It’s a very complicated web that has been weaved by the UFC. If Leon beats Masvidal, it’s gotta be a title fight… Of course, Masvidal is a massive star, Leon takes that star. But for that to happen, Usman has to beat Covington, which I think will happen” (Sportskeeda)

Coincidentally, both Masvidal and Edwards last defeat were by the hands of the champ, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Kamaru Usman. Masvidal lost both chances to claim gold against Usman, one by decision and the other by a devastating KO. Edwards lost to Usman back in 2015, when both fighters were just getting their feet wet in the UFC.

If Edwards wins against Masvidal it would be apparent that Edwards is the number 1 contender for the title. It is debatable whether or not he should be the one fighting Usman for the title in November. Instead, Usman will be fighting Covington in a rematch. Covington gave Usman the best fight to date, but Edwards has been the most dominant contender in the division. The questions we have about the division will be answered sooner rather than later.

Do you agree with Michael Bisping?Do you think Leon Edwards will be the next person to fight for the title?

Leon Edwards Asked For Five-Round Fight With Jorge Masvidal At UFC 269

Leon Edwards wanted his fight with Gamebred to be five-rounds.

When the news broke that Jorge Masvidal and Edwards were finally going to fight at UFC 269, the general consensus was that the top-ranked welterweights would be fighting for five rounds. The UFC has been doing for notable fights, like Edwards vs. Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler. Nope, it is a regular three-round fight.

On Wednesday, Edwards spoke with MMA Fighting and revealed he asked the UFC for a five-round fight.

“The last three years, all he did was make excuses. I asked the UFC for a five-round fight with him, but I think he turned around and said he wanted three rounds. So that’s the reason that we’re at three rounds, you know, so either way, a fight is a fight,” Edwards told MMA Fighting.

Championship fighter

“Rocky,” said the reason he wanted five rounds was because he is a championship fighter and hasn’t been in a three-round fight in a while.

“I haven’t fought three rounds now for a while. I’m a championship fighter. My last five fights have been five rounds, so I am looking forward to going three. I can sprint at three [rounds] so, I’m looking forward to it,” Edwards said.

The last time Edwards was in a three-round fight was the night this beef with Masivdal started and got personal. He fought Gunnar Nelson in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Till vs. Masvidal, while “Gamebred” headlined the event. During Masvidal’s backstage post-fight interview, Edwards interrupted him, and all hell broke loose, which led to Masvidal striking him backstage.

“3 piece with soda” was born that night, and Edwards has been looking for revenge ever since.

Well, he will get his chance on Dec. 11 at UFC 269.

Edwards did not mince his words during his interview with MMA Fight.

“This is war…I’m going out to hurt him.”

Jon Jones has broken his silence about the domestic violence allegations.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jones denies that he hit his fiancee on Sept. 24, which led to his arrest hours after his UFC Hall of Fame appearance.

‘Bones’ has gone radio silent on social media for the most part following his arrest, only posting on his Instagram story. However, on Wednesday, he broke his silence and defended himself on Twitter while denying his struck his wife.

“I love how people are imagining the worst possible situation in their heads and making it somehow factual. I never hit my fiancé, and our daughters were woken up after our confrontation. My daughters didn’t see or hear us arguing,” Jones wrote.

Jones would continue to say he has the support of his family.

“That’s really the only thing I care to clarify.. outside of that, looking forward to moving forward without alcohol. It’s the first time in my life where I’m actually ready to quit. Glad to have the support of my fiancé, family friends, and fans”, Jones wrote.

Someone on Twitter called him out and wrote, “Actions speak louder,” to which Jones responded.

“Yep, I totally understand that, that’s why I’m not going to do some big PR stunt, hire a publicist. I’m not gonna do anything like that. I know it’s real. I know that I’m ready. Time will take care of the rest,” Jones said.

In a now-deleted tweet, he said has the love, support, and forgiveness for his fiancee and family.

“I have the love, support, and forgiveness of my beautiful fiancee and family. In some weird way, the personal matters we have dealing with recently as a family has only been making us stronger,” he wrote.

While Jones claimed he never hit his fiancee, Jessie Moses, the police report said that Moses approached hotel security at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, NV, asking for a replacement key card. The hotel security guards told police that Moses had blood on her face and clothing. The security guard also said Jones and Moses’ children asked them to call police after the alleged altercation had happened.

All of Jones’ tweets came after he was told he wasn’t welcomed at his long-time gym, Jackson-Wink MMA. Read about that here.

Dominick Cruz Still Not Ruling Out Charity Fight with Hans Molenkamp

One of the strangest callouts in UFC history came courtesy of Dominick Cruz earlier this year following UFC 259, as he blasted Monster representative Hans Molenkamp and suggested that he was making unreasonable demands and threatened to withhold sponsorship money.

Following his prolonged return to the UFC octagon against Casey Kenney, Cruz took the time to call out Molenkamp on national television in his post-fight interview. Many around the MMA community were confused with Cruz’s comments and who Molenkamp was, to begin with.

Cruz has since suggested that Molenkamp’s self-proclaimed relationship with fighters was overblown, and accused him of attempting to use fighters’ names to boost his own reputation.

During a recent sit-down on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Cruz provided an update on what has happened with him and Monster Energy since his comments.

Dominick Cruz clarified his beef with Monster Energy’s Hans Molenkamp during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani

“This is never been about [Monster Energy], this has been about my relationship with one person,” “We needed to hash some things out, set some boundaries, and communicate. When you look at the big picture, I’m responsible for everything I create in my life. So it was my responsibility to create a boundary with him. Man to man, eye to eye, you shouldn’t have to say that to another man. But we’re living in a world where the internet can botch reality.”

“I’m still completely open to a charity fight with Hans Molenkamp. He might be open to that too.”

Cruz is set to face Pedro Munhoz at UFC 269 on Dec. 11 as he looks to get back in the thick of things in the bantamweight division. He’s lost two of his last three bouts and has dealt with a series of ongoing injury issues.

It appears that while Cruz’s relationship with Monster Energy is still sustainable, it’s perfectly clear that he doesn’t take clout chasing very lightly.

Conor McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz Go at It in Recent Twitter Spat

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is at it again on social media, this time targeting MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz and the Russian nation of Dagestan in a recent Twitter tirade.

McGregor and Abdelaziz aren’t strangers to one another, as McGregor has had a longtime rivalry that has eased into hatred with former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Throughout his UFC career, Nurmagomedov was a client of Abdelaziz’s.

Below are just a few of the back-and-forths between the two on Wednesday, which included McGregor accusing Dagestan of inbreeding.

Conor McGregor’s feud with Ali Abdelaziz stems from his rivalry with former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov

McGregor is in the middle of his recovery from a nasty leg injury he suffered at UFC 264 earlier this year, losing to Dustin Poirier via doctor’s stoppage. He’s anticipated a return to the octagon sometime next year with the hopes of a potential fourth fight with Poirier.

McGregor has remained in the public eye despite being sidelined due to injury. He got into a physical altercation with rapper Machine Gun Kelly at the 2021 VMAs, has threatened Poirier and Nurmagomedov in social media rants, and much more.

Abdelaziz has been involved in the fight game for many years and is the manager for many Dagestan fighters; including Nurmagomedov and rising lightweight contender Islam Makhachev.

The UFC has yet to react to McGregor’s recent Twitter rant, but UFC president Dana White seemed displeased with McGregor following his explicit post-fight interview following UFC 264. He called out Poirier’s wife and family and even going as far as threatening to eat their children.

McGregor has been controversial throughout his career, but has certainly crossed the line on multiple occasions over the past few years specifically. There’s no telling what could be next for McGregor and his career, as well as in his ongoing feud with Abdelaziz.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has a big few weeks ahead of him in the midst of the ongoing investigation into his domestic violence arrest in Las Vegas, and Jackson-Wink MMA isn’t taking any chances.

Jones got word from his coach, Mike Winkeljohn last night that he won’t be welcome back at the New Mexico-based MMA gym until further notice, as Winkeljohn revealed during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani. Jones faces a court date on Oct. 26 in Las Vegas to find out what could be next for him after allegedly assaulting his fiancee in a resort just hours after his UFC Hall of Fame induction.

Winkeljohn spoke about what went into the decision to distance his gym from Jones until changes are made to his lifestyle.

Jon Jones has been a member of Jackson-Wink through his entire MMA career

“This is a tough one,” Winkeljohn said on The MMA Hour. “There’s definitely no doubt about it. It’s one of the toughest ones. It broke my heart that I was even put in that position where I felt I had to do it. I will stick by my guns and stay true to the guy that I want to be.”

“I said, ‘Jon, here’s the deal, man. You’re like my little brother. You have to stop drinking and fix these things for a certain period of time until you come back to the gym,’” Winkeljohn continued. “So at the moment, he’s out of the gym. Ignoring it and expecting different results is insanity.”

Jones was arrested by Las Vegas Police on Sept. 24 for battery domestic violence and vehicle tampering charges. As he was taken into custody, Jones headbutted an officer’s patrol vehicle and made moderate attempts to resist arrest.

Winkeljohn didn’t go into details in terms of what specifically could allow Jones to eventually return to the team, but it’s certainly a sticky situation all around. Jones has had multiple run-ins with the law over his professional career and hasn’t competed in the UFC since early 2020 amid a contract dispute.
