Dillon Danis

Former UFC middleweight champion, color commentator, and Hall of Fame inductee, Michael Bisping has given his thoughts on the recent arrest of Bellator MMA welterweight, Dillon Danis, claiming that the New Jersey native is a “broke version of Conor McGregor“, as well as requesting that he leave the mixed martial arts community.

Footage emerged last week which appeared to show former Marcelo Garcia student, Danis attempted to struggle and kick away from responding law enforcement officers outside the Beachcomber Bar and Grill in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, before he was escorted to a police cruiser and brought into custody.

Whilst a mugshot footage surfaced, which appeared to feature Danis, sporting blonde hair as well as a knee brace on the outside of his right pant leg, previous footage also made its way to social media which appears to show Danis involved in an altercation with a security guard from the venue, before he has his back taken, as the security guard establishes hooks and locks up a rear-naked choke, before Danis appears to tap soon thereafter.

Danis is expected back in court on the 19. of this month, with the responding officer alleging that the grappler “created a disturbance“.

For the security guard, decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu player, Gordon Ryan has reached out to him, offering him front row seats to attend ADDC Submission Wrestling World Championship next September, while UFC alum and grappling standout, Tom DeBlass has invited him to train at his academy for the next year.

Reflecting on Danis’ arrest and apparent subduing at the hands of the security guard, the aforenoted, Bisping called for the 28-year-old to leave the mixed martial arts community as well as describing him as a “broke version of Conor McGregor“.

I can’t believe I’m talking about Dillon Danis, who I refer to as ‘Dildo Danis’ — which is a little immature, but it fits him perfectly,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “He’s a stain on mixed martial arts, and I wouldn’t normally give him the time of day,… the guy hardly ever fights. I think he’s had two fights for Bellator, he’s best known for being Conor McGregor’s number one coat rider, if you know what I mean. … Apparently he’s good at Jiu-Jitsu or whatever, I think he’s got plenty of losses in that world as well. And he just copies Conor’s whole schtick. He’s a very, very, very, very, poor man’s Conor McGregor. He’s like a broke version of Conor McGregor that’s lost all his money, he’s gone broke, he’s hit rock bottom. And that’s what you’re left with, that’s ‘Dildo Danis’.

Dillon Danis got choked out, unconscious, and given to the police, by a chocolatier,” Bisping continued. “Dillon Danis, please, forever hang your head in shame. Never come back to the MMA community, the MMA community does not want you around my friend. And it doesn’t seem like the Jiu-Jitsu community want you around either.

Undefeated in his first two professional mixed martial arts appearances, Danis has been out of action since reconstructive knee surgery in March of last year, having featured in the training camp of the aforenoted, McGregor for the Dubliner’s UFC 246 main event with Donald Cerrone in January of that year.

Former UFC lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos has been struck by injury woes — forcing him to remove himself from proceedings against lightweight rival, Islam Makhachev at UFC 267 on October 30.

dos Anjos, who successfully returned to his lightweight stomping grounds back in November, recently underwent an arthroscopy procedure on meniscus in his knee, with a bout with flu, which required antibiotics to treat, prolonging his rehabilitation process and forcing him from an October bout with Makhachev.

Per Dominance MMA manager, Ali Abdelaziz, who spoke with MMA Junkie reporter, John Morgan, his former client, dos Anjos has been removed from a bout with Makhachev — with the search for a short-notice replacement to keep his current client on the UFC 267 card underway.

Abdelaziz has identified two preferred opponents for his client to meet on short-notice; former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, as well as City Kickboxing ace, Dan Hooker — who turned in an impressive unanimous decision win over Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266 on Saturday.

Speculation began to mount that the pairing between Makhachev and dos Anjos was in jeopardy for a third time, when the former called the latter a “chicken” on social media, alluding to the fact he had suffered another injury. Responding to the grappler, dos Anjos questioned why he would fake an injury, describing his setback as “terrible“.

Making a successful rebound to the lightweight limit in a November headliner last year, dos Anjos met with short-notice replacement, the now-retired, Paul Felder where he managed a one-sided split decision victory after Makhachev was forced from proceedings due to a staph infection.

The two were booked to meet in a main card bout at UFC 254 in October last year as well, until former champion, dos Anjos tested positive for COVID-19 — ruling him from the clash.

In the time since, Makhachev has lodged a pair of dominant submission victories over both Drew Dober and American Top Team grappler, Thiago Moises, the second of which came in his headlining bow at UFC Vegas 31 in July.

Lauren Murphy

Lauren Murphy has spoken out for the first time since losing at UFC 266.

‘Lucky’ was dominated throughout the co-main event by Valentina Shevchenko who stepped on the gas in round four to find the TKO finish to retain her flyweight title.

It was the first time Murphy has been finished in her 20-fight MMA career.

Post-fight, she took to social media to talk about the defeat and look for points of positivity.

“Rough night at the office I couldn’t do shit in there last night,” Murphy wrote on Instagram. “Sometimes it just be like that. It was an honor to share the cage with a fighter of Valentina’s caliber. I am proud to have earned a spot across from her. I loved the walkout and felt great in the cage. My corners did a great job too. They just kept it simple and positive, like I asked them to.
I can’t stand it when corners rush in and scream at a fighter about how they’re losing rounds… I know when I’m losing rounds and I knew I needed to make something happen. I couldn’t make it happen due to getting hit every time I tried. As the great Chael P Sonnen once said, “The problem is, I was in there with a much better fighter tonight”. Shit happens, but I’m okay. We live to fight another day. Thank you @ufc @mickmaynard @danawhite for the opportunity, and thank you @bulletvalentina for the fight. It was an amazing experience to fight for the UFC title, I’ll never forget it or regret it. I’ll be back but for now I want to enjoy some time off. Thanks everyone for your support and kind words! They’re appreciated.”

Israel Adesanya has confirmed he will be joining his City Kickboxing teammates in relocating from New Zealand to America.

Last week, the UFC middleweight let rip at his home nation for their strict lockdown rules that have prevented him, Dan Hooker, and other New Zealand based fighters from being able to properly train.

‘Stylebender’ revealed he will never fight in New Zealand again after City Kickboxing’s makeshift bubble was disbanded by police, forcing Hooker to train at home for his UFC 266 fight with Nasrat Hasquarat.

“You will never see me fight in New Zealand ever again,” Adesanya said in a video posted to his YouTube channel. “All that money, they can get it from somewhere else. Their rugbys, their crickets and all the others they’re giving exemptions to, but you will never ever see me fight on these shores [again]. That was one of my dreams, to headline a stadium in my backyard. That dream’s dead in the water … that’s just the way I feel right now.”

In the build-up and after his UFC 266 win over Hasquarat, Hooker suggested that he and the City Kickboxing team will be relocating to the U.S. in the near future.

On Sunday, Adesanya took to social media to confirm he’s heading stateside.

“Cats out the bag… I’m moving to America ??,” Adesanya wrote. “When faced with obstacles, we adapt and overcome. I’m 32 and applying pressure like J Cole before I’m out the game. We built this legacy at @citykickboxing ourselves and the support of the people. No govt handouts or backing and became the number one winning gym on earth! Four walls and a roof don’t make a martial arts gym. The people who toil day in and day out make it what it is. So wherever those four walls and a roof is located, it’ll still be City Kickboxing!!”

Do you think Israel Adesanya is making the right call by relocating to the U.S?

Conor McGregor Heaps Praise On ‘Magic’ Nick Diaz, Rips ‘Garbage’ Nate Diaz

Conor McGregor was impressed by Nick Diaz despite the fact the MMA legend suffered defeat in his eagerly-anticipated rematch against Robbie Lawler at UFC 266.

The former Strikeforce champion returned to the Octagon for the first time in more than six years on Saturday night, seeking his first MMA win since 2011.

Diaz squared off against Lawler in a rematch 17 years in the making. In 2004, Diaz emerged scored a vicious KO win over ‘Ruthless’ at UFC 47.

At UFC 266, Lawler finally got his revenge. The fight was action-packed from the first to the last moment. Both men had their moments, but it was the former UFC champion, Lawler, who found the telling shot in round three. By that point, Diaz look spent and failed to rise to his feet when asked by Herb Dean to do so resulting in the fight being waved off.

McGregor was full of praise for Diaz who clearly impressed the Irishman with his boxing skills and composure during a firefight.

“Nick/Rob was a good fight,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “The spin kick at the start gave the ground on Nick but he was veteran composed and was peppering lovely shots in. He just ate some big body shots and there was more coming Robbie was strong to the body it was veteran work all round. I enjoyed thoroughly.”

The former dual-weight UFC champion was even impressed with the way Diaz managed to avoid taking more damage during the final moments of his return fight.

“The finishing sequence when the temple was clipped after the leg went, the evasion of the final shot, which was a blistering uppercut, was magic. Look at it. Down on one knee, observing where the shot was coming from, slip/parry, and re cente to open guard safe. Ala Daly fight.”

McGregor just couldn’t resist taking a shot at Nick’s brother and his long-time rival, Nate Diaz, who he believes is “piss” in comparison to his sibling.

“Nate your boxing is piss compare to nicks,” McGregor concluded. “We been fed garbage with your sloppy shots the last few years. Can see the clear difference between the two brothers after last night. Balance, composure. Another level the big bro is on to you. I made you.”

Do you agree with Conor McGregor? Is Nick Diaz a better fighter than Nate Diaz?
