UFC president Dana White is unconvinced by Henry Cejudo’s claim that he’s the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.

Cejudo became just the fourth simultaneous two-weight champion in the UFC when he came back to defeat Marlon Moraes via third-round TKO to win the bantamweight title at UFC 238 this past weekend.

“The Messenger” already held the flyweight title following his win over pound-for-pound great Demetrious Johnson and defended it with a first-round knockout of TJ Dillashaw earlier this year. Add in the fact that he’s also an Olympic gold medallist, and Cejudo does have a claim to be the very best in combat sports.

However, White still feels Cejudo has work to do before he can be considered above the likes of light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Listen, I love Henry Cejudo’s attitude and his belief in himself,” White said in a post-event interview with ESPN. “But he’s got to win a lot more fights to start calling himself the number one guy in the world.

You got Khabib who is 27-0. You got Jon Jones who has never been beat and has literally murdered everybody that ever was or will be in that division. That’s a little premature.

While one could argue Cejudo’s last three wins were more impressive as a whole than Nurmagomedov’s, it is still hard to rate him above Jones, or even Daniel Cormier. However, a few more wins could certainly change things.

Despite suffering a brutal headkick knockout to Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event of UFC 238 on Saturday, Jessica Eye seems to be okay.

Eye was challenging for Shevchenko’s women’s flyweight title until she was caught clean in the second round and knocked out cold. After a couple of minutes, she was back to her feet and was later sent to the hospital. And on Sunday, “Evil” released her first statement since the setback.

“Congratulations @BulletValentina that was [an] incredible head kick,” Eye tweeted. “I am thankful for the chance to share the cage with you.

“I am okay and thank you for caring about me. I had a great camp and felt the best I have ever. I made some mistakes that cost me dearly. This fight game can be rough at times, but it’s what I signed up for.”

It was the first time Eye had ever been knocked out in her 22-fight career and also her first loss at 125-pounds since the UFC introduced the division. She is now 3-1 at flyweight.

Shevchenko, meanwhile, is 3-0 at flyweight, and there doesn’t seem to be any clear-cut number one contender next for her. However, nobody can blame the rest of the division especially given her performances so far.

If you needed any more confirmation that former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was not returning to the UFC, Dana White has now confirmed it.

Lesnar was expected to make his return to the Octagon and challenge Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight title. It never came to fruition, however, with Lesnar later retiring from mixed martial arts and resuming his WWE duties. Cormier, meanwhile, is now scheduled to defend his title against Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241. While Lesnar has retired from MMA multiple times before, according to White, it seems like this time it’s final:

“He’s [Lesnar] done. He’s made his decision,” White told TMZ. “I don’t know where he is in that other world. I know that he was looking at doing a new deal with Vince to stay with the WWE.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with Brock. We’ve always dealt really well with each other. When you decide or don’t decide to fight, you mentally have to be ready to fight. If you’re not all in, you shouldn’t fight. He made a decision and it’s the right decision.

In the end, it seems Lesnar preferred to make his money in the world of sports entertainment rather than in the Octagon. And it certainly had nothing to do with the new ESPN deal either according to the UFC president.

Despite being hospitalized, Donald Cerrone is still in good spirits following his UFC 238 loss to Tony Ferguson on Saturday.

Cerrone and Ferguson took part in a back-and-forth encounter which was eventually named Fight of the Night despite lasting just two rounds. That’s because Cerrone blew his nose while it was broken following the second round, causing his right eye to completely shut. Adding to the controversy was the fact that “El Cucuy” had struck Cerrone after the bell closed the second round.

However, referee Dan Miragliotta determined that the illegal punch did not lead to the end of the fight. And with the doctor rendering Cerrone unable to continue, Ferguson won the fight via TKO. Despite the underwhelming end to the fight, “Cowboy” was still smiling and that remains the case even after he was hospitalized.

In an Instagram post, he poked fun at his appearance while also smiling alongside his fiance:

Cerrone is also said to have suffered a broken orbital bone and given his frequent activity, some time away might be the best thing for him. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see “Cowboy” back in the Octagon sooner than expected.
