It looks like the big bottle-throwing incident between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor at the final UFC 202 pre-fight press conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada during the fight week build-up to their 170-pound rematch last month is going to end up costing both men a nice chunk of change.

Nevada Athletic Commission Executive Director Bob Bennett told Ariel Helwani during an interview for MMAFighting.com on Monday that both fighters are facing NAC sanctions for their roles in the wild incident. ESPN.com was first to report the news that Diaz and McGregor are each facing disciplinary action from the NAC, and that the Nevada Attorney General’s Office has filed individual complaints against both men.

“Totally unacceptable,” Bennett told Helwani regarding the behavior of McGregor and Diaz at the final UFC 202 pre-fight press conference. “Not indicative of the way professional fighters should conduct themselves.”

Bennett continued, “It showed disrespect for press, fighters, UFC and the commission.”

The NAC has handed down fines as a result of press conference incidents in the past, as Jon Jones was fined $50,000 and Daniel Cormier was fined $9,000 — each being 10 percent of their purse for their first fight — following their infamous UFC media day brawl in Las Vegas.

As noted, Conor McGregor was paid a $3 million guaranteed purse for UFC 202, while Nate Diaz earned a reported salary of $2 million. If the same fine of 10 percent of the fighters reported purses is handed down in this scenario, McGregor would be looking at a $300,000 fine, while Diaz would owe the NAC a payment of $200,000, both of which is about what top fighters earn as their total purse for headlining big UFC events.

The next NAC meeting is scheduled to take place on September 29th, while a second NAC meeting has also been discussed for October 10th.

This week, UFC launched a special website for their upcoming UFC 205 pay-per-view event in November, which will be the company’s first time running a show in the state of New York.

The promotion announced via their official social media channels on Monday evening that fans can register at UFC.com/NY to keep up-to-date on all of the match announcements for the historic UFC 205 pay-per-view, and to gain eligibility for the special pre-sale for tickets to the event.

Although no fights have been officially announced for the event outside of the fan-friendly Robbie Lawler vs. Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone welterweight bout that Dana White went on the record with during a recent interview, which as noted has already been canceled, there have been a number of fights rumored to be targeted for the show that follows next month’s UFC 204: Bisping vs. Henderson 2 event on the UFC PPV calendar.

Fights that have been rumored for the UFC 205 PPV in New York in November include Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson for the UFC welterweight title, Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero in a UFC middleweight title eliminator, Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy in a middleweight bout, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis vs. Max Holloway in a featherweight bout and Gian Villante vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima in a light heavyweight bout.

As far as the main event, nothing is set in stone right now, although a fight between UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez has been talked about. The feeling is that UFC 205 needs a big main event because it’s UFC’s long-awaited introduction to the New York market, as well as their debut at the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena. Originally, Ronda Rousey’s highly-anticipated Octagon return was rumored to headline the UFC 205 show, however it has since been reported that she will not be ready in time for a fight in mid-November.

If UFC wants a big main event, they can’t do much better than Conor McGregor, the biggest star in the sport right now, taking on the New Jersey born-and-bred Eddie Alvarez in a champion versus champion bout. Prior to his two fights against Nate Diaz, McGregor, fresh off of his 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo, was scheduled to fight former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos in a bout where the 155-pound title was going to be on the line. Dos Anjos would go on to break his foot and pull out of the fight, leaving UFC and McGregor to agree on Diaz as the short-notice replacement.

Dana White stated after last month’s UFC 202 that McGregor must defend his UFC 145-pound title in his next fight or give up the belt. With Jose Aldo winning the interim 145-pound title by defeating Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 in July, he would be the opponent on the horizon for McGregor unless the Irish mega-star does indeed relinquish the title and move up to 155 pounds, which has also been talked about. If that is the case, while one would assume that the McGregor-Alvarez talk is purely speculation at this point, it very well could end up being the way things unfold.

UFC 205 takes place from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York on Saturday, November 12, 2016, and will air live on pay-per-view.

TJ Dillashaw Knows Full-Well Dominick Cruz Does Not Want A Rematch

TJ Dillashaw is a former UFC bantamweight champion and is still regarded as one of the top contenders to the belt.

But he doesn’t believe Dominick Cruz wants any part of a rematch.

Earlier this year, Cruz bested Dillashaw to regain the title he never lost. Several injuries left Cruz on the sidelines and the UFC was forced to strip him of the belt.

Now that he’s back, Cruz has targeted bouts with Jose Aldo, Demetrious Johnson and even Cody Garbrandt over a rematch with Dillashaw.

“You know, it’s funny – so as soon as Cruz was calling out (Urijah) Faber and didn’t want to fight me, I understood. Whatever. That happened. And then as soon as that fight was over, Cruz is talking about how he wants to do a super fight against Aldo,” said Dillashaw, during a recent interview with Submission Radio. “Well Aldo wants (Conor) McGregor, so that’s not going to happen. Then he was saying he wants to do a super fight against Demetrious. But Demetrious was hurt and already had a fight lined up, so he couldn’t do that either. So if he couldn’t run away from the weight class and not fight me, what’s he gonna do? Jump to No. 8? Would he rather fight the No. 8 ranked guy instead of fighting the guy he should fight? He doesn’t want to fight me, man.

“He knows how tough that first fight was, he knows that I have a legitimate chance at kicking his ass and he just doesn’t want that to happen. He wants to try to make as much money as he can, while he can and stay on top. But I’m motivated now more than ever to get my belt back and he knows that, man. I’m coming for it. So I think that’s the biggest thing that worries me the most. He’s going to do as much trash talk as he can to try and entice people to want this Garbrandt fight so that he can try to stay on top, because he knows he’s going to be able to take Garbrandt apart as well too. That guy is a little bit too flat footed for Cruz. Cruz knows what he’s doing. He’s smart, man. He gets under people’s skin, he picks the fights that he wants. I mean, he just got to fight Urijah Faber, made him look like a fool, and he knew that fight was going to go that way when he should have been fighting me instead.”

Dillashaw added that he plans to sit on the sidelines and wait for Cruz unless the UFC would create an interim belt for him to compete for.

“The only way I’m gonna take another fight is if it is for the interim title cause Cruz can’t come back,” he said. “If Cruz is healthy, that’s the only fight I want. If for some reason they’re going to give up an interim belt, then yeah, I mean, I’ll fight and I don’t care who it is. The thing is, I just want me belt back.”
