UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy dreams of a future fight with Jon Jones and even believes he could beat him.

Hardy takes on Juan Adams at UFC San Antonio this weekend and ahead of the fight, he was asked if he would like to face Jones at some point down the line. The former NFL star was certainly open to the idea, provided he gets in a position to challenge the light heavyweight champion in the future:

“Oh yeah. That’s like saying you want to play against Troy Aikman and the Cowboys,” Hardy told TMZ Sports. “It’s impossible not to dream of Greg Hardy vs. Jon Jones for the heavyweight title after he’s finished dominating the light heavyweight division.

Full disclosure, you know, Jon Jones is someone that I emulate as a fighter. I think he’s one of the most complete fighters in the game. I think he’s one of the most dangerous men in this world and that’s honestly, who I’m trying to fight like. It would be an honor and a pleasure to go to war with him if I make it that far.”

Hardy Believes He Can Take Out Jones

Hardy recently claimed he wanted to be the greatest combat sports heavyweight of all time and also has plans on becoming the UFC heavyweight champion. If he faces Jones, he also believes he could win. After all, if he didn’t, there would be no point in competing in the UFC:

“Yeah man. For sure,” Hardy explained when asked if he could beat Jones. “Like I said, he’s a great dude, a great competitor, but at the end of the day, I’m here to clean out the whole division and anyone who wants to join it. I’m here to be the greatest combat sports heavyweight of all time, and if that includes taking out Jon Jones, that’s what I’ve got to do.

And I’ll do it with all due respect like I would Stipe, like I would Daniel. I think a lot of times my comments get misconstrued as disrespectful and it’s not. If I’m sitting here talking about ‘I can’t beat somebody’, then do I even belong here?”

Alexander Hernandez Not Underestimating Francisco Trinaldo Following Donald Cerrone Loss

If there is one thing Alexander Hernandez won’t do this weekend, it’s underestimate the age of Francisco Trinaldo. If there is one thing Alexander Hernandez won’t do this weekend, it’s underestimate the age of Francisco Trinaldo.

Hernandez takes on Trinaldo at UFC San Antonio this weekend in what will be his first outing since a knockout defeat to Donald Cerrone earlier in January. “The Great” looked down on Cerrone heading into the fight, going as far as telling him he would send his “geriatric ass yee-hawing back to the stables.”

In the end, it backfired as the 36-year-old Cerrone was able to get a second-round stoppage win over the 26-year-old in what was another case of trash talking gone wrong.

And Hernandez believes the only way he was going to lose that night was against the experience of Cerrone:

“If I was going to lose any way it was from experience,” Hernandez told MMA Junkie. “I’m the stronger, faster and I honestly believe the more technical fighter all around, but it was a lack of composure that was my detriment, my downfall. If there’s anything that guy’s garnered over the last few years it’s tremendous mental composure.

“He presented a true test and I underestimated the most prevalent thing I should’ve been looking out for it. It was an experience point for me and a huge landmark in my fighting career.”

Hernandez Not Underestimating Trinaldo

Now back after six months, Hernandez takes on another veteran in the 40-year-old Trinaldo who presents a tough task for anyone in the division. Hernandez, for one, plans on respecting his experience:

“He’s a grimy guy,” Hernandez said. “I don’t think he’s particularly pretty anywhere, but I think he’s pretty solid all around. I think he’s a pretty tough, gritty experienced. I’m not going to underestimate the age or nothing like that, I’m going to respect the fact he’s an experienced veteran.”

Hernandez is hoping a win on Saturday puts him back on track for his goal of becoming a UFC champion — something he hopes to achieve in 2021:

“The goal is still to have the belt in 2021,” Hernandez added. “I win this fight, I get two ranked opponents and I’m looking at a title shot. Especially with the way I fight and carry myself. I don’t see why we can’t stay on track.”

Do you think Hernandez will get back to winning ways this weekend?

UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy is not just fighting to find a new niche — he plans on becoming a champion as well.

Hardy takes part in his third promotional fight at UFC San Antonio this weekend when he meets Juan Adams on the main card. Of course, “The Prince of War” only began his mixed martial arts (MMA) journey recently as he made the transition from football.

However, he hopes to eventually hold UFC gold in the future:

“I am going for the heavyweight gold,” Hardy told MMA Junkie. “I’m here to take everything that everybody loves and adores and put it around my waist.”

Hardy Looking For The Finish In Every Fight

Given his controversial past, the fact that Hardy has been given co-main event spots so far has not sat well with many in the sport, Adams least of all. The former NFL star knows the spotlight is on him every time he fights now, but sees it as an opportunity to shine:

“My fights are highlighted – they’re not the most talented people in the ring,” Hardy added “I’m not fighting 50-0. I’m not fighting Floyd Mayweather-caliber type of guys, or the Cain Velasquezes out there. But every fight is a showcase, so I’m looking for the finish.

I don’t have the privilege of going out there, trying things and making mistakes and errors. I’m coming to execute. I’m coming to finish, the best I know how, with the best tools that I have.”

A win over Adams, arguably his toughest opponent yet, would signal a huge step up for Hardy. There is also intrigue in this fight as Adams has made it very clear he does not like Hardy — not that it affects the 30-year-old.

He only sends his messages in the Octagon:

“I don’t think that would be smart for anybody,” Hardy said when asked if he saw Adams this week. “I send my messages in the ring. I used to send them on the field. When you’re the baddest man on the freakin’ planet, you don’t have to talk trash (or) coax people into fighting before the fight. They lock us in a cage.”

Do you think Hardy will get the win this weekend?
