Li Jingliang had his native Chinese crowd behind him in a big way this morning (Sat. August 31, 2019).

Jingliang co-main evented UFC Shenzhen opposite Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. The two welterweights are known for their finishing abilities, and didn’t disappoint. Both men threw some heavy leather throughout the near-15 minutes they shared inside the cage, but Jingliang got the job done late.

After dropping dos Santos with seconds to go in the fight, Jingliang pounced on his Brazilian counterpart for the finish. Check out the stoppage here:

In the co-main event of UFC Shenzhen, Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Li Jingliang will collide.

Round 1:

Very much a feeling out process after the first few minutes. A leg kick from dos Santos is caught and Jingliang lands a right hand and takes dos Santos down. They trade inside the pocket and dos Santos lands some hard shots, but Jingliang wears them well. A pair of high kicks from dos Santos just miss.

A blitz from Jingliang coming forward and dos Santos is caught with a strike. Dos Santos pressing the action now. Jingliang just misses ona counter shot and they clinch up for a moment before separating. A huge shot from Jingliang drops dos Santos. Dos Santos jumps right back up, eats a knee, and dos Santos presses Jingliang against the cage to end the round.

Round 2:

Another big right-hand lands for Jingliang to start the round, but dos Santos remains on his feet. Dos Santos clinches up but Jingliant shoves him off. Dos Santos responds with a big right hand of his own. Jingliang lands a nice counter shot as he circles out from the cage.

Jingliang blitzes forward again and catches dos Santos with an overhand on his last shot. They clinch up and dos Santos fails on a takedown. Dos Santos lands a nice hook on the break but Jingliang is throwing heavy shots right back. Bit shots being exchanged inside the pocket and dos Santos clinches Jingliang against the cage to end the round.

Round 3:

The pair exchange leg kicks to start off. Jingliang is very active with his hands coming out. Dos Santos comes in for a takedown but Jingliant isn’t there. A leg kick from Jingliang and dos Santos responds with a nice hook. A nice right-hand lands for Jingliang and he follows up with a jab. Jingliang has had great head movement all fight. Jingliang catches a kick and scores a takedown, but dos Santos is right back to his feet.

Dos Santos stumbles and falls back to the canvas moving backward and clinches with Jingliang for a moment against the cage before separating. A big uppercut from Jingliang rocks dos Santos with seconds to go and drops him. A follow-up flurry from Jingliang ends the fight.

Official Result: Li Jingliang def. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos via R3 TKO (punches, 4:51)

Up next on UFC Shenzhen is a flyweight contest between Kai Kara-France and Mark De La Rosa.

Round 1:

De La Rosa lands a nice couple of shots and comes in nicely on a takedown attempt. He has Kara-France’s back clinched against the cage. Kara-France reverses and lands some nice hamemrfists before getting back to his feet. De La Rosa puts together a very nice combination but Kara-France fires back with a jab. A takedown attempt from De La Rosa comes up flat again, as Kara-France scrambles and gets to his feet. The round comes to an end.

Round 2:

A bit right hand from Kara-France drops De La Rosa to the canvas but he’s back up to his feet. De La Rosa comes forward with some volume. A big leg kick from Kara-France takes De La Rosa’s leg out from under him and he falls to the canvas. Some ground-and-pound from Kara-France but he stands up and wants to keep things striking. De La Rosa starting to press the action on the feet now. A big overhand lands for Kara-France but De la Rosa continues to fight forward. The round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Heavy shots from both men to open the round. Kara-France connects with a nice hook as he ducks and circles out. Another big shot from Kara-France connects and now De La Rosa is firing back with bombs. Beautiful counter shots connect for De La Rosa, but he eats a massive body kick.

Kara-France is putting together a big combination on De La Rosa against the cage, as the body kick seemed to have hurt De La Rosa momentarily. The leg kick from Kara-France is really hurting De La Rosa, but Kara-France isn’t throwing it enough. Now Kara-France is starting to really attack De La Rosa’s front leg.

A body shot lands for Kara-France, and he follows up with a leg kick. Kara-France throwing heavy leather as time expires, and De La Rosa simply evades as the round ends.

Official Result: Kai Kara-France def. Mark De La Rosa via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Round 1:

Leg kick lands for Krantz. The right hand is connecting nicely for Krantz, but Song isn’t backing down as he begins to walk forward. Neither man really connecting on too much. Nice kicks to the body land for Song but Krantz presses forward with his right hand, only connecting on glove. Krantz puts together a big combination, connecting on several big shots in the pocket. The round comes to an end.

Round 2:

Krants gets the fight to the ground and is right tinto side control, but Song has the neck locked up. Song recovers for half guard and bucks Krantz off to take his back. Krantz bucks Song off and now has Song against the cage looking for the takedown.

Krantz gets the takedown and is pressuring Song against the Octagon, and is now looking for the guillotine. He has a standing guillotine now. Song is able to escape it. Song drags Krantz down for a moment but Krantz gets the takedown again and is on top of Song. The round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Both men coming out aggressive, and Song has Krantz pressed up against the cage. Krantz goes in on teh takedown and gets it. Right into half guard for Krantz. Song is able to power back up to his feet and we’re striking again. A nice uppercut and pair of hooks connect for Krantz.

A big pair of punches land for Song and Krantz is rocked. A flying knee in the clinch lands for Song and Krantz goes in on another takedown. Song trying to defend with a kimura but Krantz ends up getting Song’s back to the mat in half guard. Krantz had full mount but Song scrambled nicely, but now Krantz is in side control. Krantz loses position and Song ends up on top and walks away.

Both men are exhausted. Both men’s hands are down and they’re just standing there, breathing. Song goes for a jump knee and is landing some nice shots now. Both men are so gassed, there’s no real power behind any of their shots. The fight comes to an end. Both men were done.

Next up on UFC Shenzhen is a women’s catchweight bout at 129 pounds between Wu Yanan and Mizuki Inoue.

Round 1:

Lots of feints from both women early on. Mizuki is staying busy but nothing of significance is landing for either woman. Mizuki connects with a couple of short hooks inside the pocket and Wu keeps her at bay with leg kicks. An overhand just connects for Mizuki and Wu continues the leg attack.

A nice body shot lands from Wu, who continues to circle around. Mizuki continues to press the action, but Wu landing nicely inside the clinch before they separate. Wu connects on a nice hook to separate another clinch up. The round comes to an end.

Round 2:

A big shot from Mizuki lands, which rocks Wu a bit. Wu blasts back with a body kick followed up by a leg kick. They clinch, Mizuki goes for a takedown, and Wu goes for a standing guillotine but she loses it. A failed trip takedown for Mizuki before they separate and Wui lands an elbow on the way out. Mizuki connects with a left hook. A nice couple of elbows land for Mizuki inside the clinch and they separate.

Mizuki lands a nice jab. Wu fails on a takedown and Mizuki makes her pay with a strike that lands crisp on her way backward. Mizuki puts together a few shots now. Mizuki had a good opportunity for a trip takedown but missed it. Mizuki with a nice right hand to end the round.

Round 3:

Mizuki cracks Wu with a nice shot as she came in for a takedown. Nice jab from Mizuki connects. Wu feints a takedown and connects on a hook. Very nice head movement from Mizuki being shown as she gets in and out of the pocket with ease after connecting on her combos.

Wu was in on a deep takedown attempt but Mizuki defended nicely. Mizuki steps in with another nice combination connecting. Wu lands nice shots after a clinch separates. Mizuki lands a hard 1-2 combination, but Wu puts together a nice combination in response, which ended with an elbow. Hard kick to the body lands for Wu. Both women are exchanging some big shots as the final seconds wind down.

Wu lands nice elbows inside the clinch and a game of rock ’em sock ’em robots breaks out as time expires. Tremendous fight.

We have another finish to pass along from the UFC Shenzhen card in China.

Anthony Hernandez vs. Jun Yong Park in a middleweight bout closed out the ESPN+ preliminary card. Hernandez was able to overcome early adversity and got the fight to the ground with a takedown in the second round. After initially going for a modified guillotine choke, “Fluffy” transitioned to an anaconda choke.

Although there were about 20 seconds left in the round, Park was forced to tap out. It was quite the redemption win for Hernandez, who dropped a second-round submission loss via anaconda choke to Markus Perez his last time out in February.
