UFC welterweight striker, Geoff Neal has reportedly been forced from his upcoming UFC Vegas 67 co-main event clash with the unbeaten division standout, Shavkat Rakhmonov due to injury, with the promotion currently searching for an opponent to replace Neal and fight Rakhmonov on January 14.

According to an initial report from Tass reporter, Igor Lazorin, Neal has suffered an undisclosed injury ahead of his scheduled January 14. fight with Shavkat Rakhmonov, forcing the tie from the UFC Vegas 67 card entirely.

“Shavkat Rakhmonov’s fight against Geoff Nea cancelled,” Igor Lazorin posted on Instagram. Neal came up with an injury. UFC is looking for a replacement. The fight is scheduled for January 134. Shavkat’s new opponent, we are looking for you.” 

In the midst of a two-fight winning run, welterweight kickboxer, Neal managed to recently land a split decision win over Argentine veteran, Santiago Ponzinibbio, to go with an August knockout win over the highly-touted contender, Vicente Luque.

Riding a stunning 16-fight undefeated professional run, Rakhmonov, who boasts a staggering 100% finish rate with eight submissions and a further eight knockout wins, most recently dispatched common-foe, Neil Magny back in June with a guillotine choke win.

A former M-1 Global welterweight champion, Rakhmonov landed in the UFC back in 2020, defeating Alex Oliveira, before recording finishes over both Michal Prazeres, and Carlston Harris ahead of his summer submission win over Magny.

At the time of publication, an official replacement for Texas striker, Neal has yet to be determined by the organization, with Rakhmonov currently sitting as the #10 ranked welterweight in the official division pile following his win over Magny.

UFC Vegas 67 takes place on January 14. from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada – with a main event fight between former interim middleweight title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum, and the surging, Nassourdine Imavov set to take main event status.

UFC flyweight prospect, the #13 ranked division contender, Jeff Molina has been issued a suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) this week, according to Molina’s page on online official record tracker, mixedmartialarts.com.

Molina, 25, a current UFC flyweight fighter, currently holds the #13 rank in the organization’s official rankings, most recently securing a split decision win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC Vegas 56 in June of this year.

According to an initial report by ESPN reporters, David Purdum, and Marc Raimondi, a reason for Jeff Molina’s suspension from the NSAC is not listed, however, a source with access to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) internal database informed ESPN that Molina’s suspension is currently marked as “uncategorized”, ahead of a meeting scheduled with the NSAC in January of next year. 

At the time of his suspension, Jeff Molina was expected to fight the returning, Jimmy Flick at an upcoming UFC Vegas 67 event in January next, however, withdrew from the bout on December 3. last, a day after the UFC confirmed combatants under their banner who continued to train under James Krause would be suspended from UFC events

Molina, who had trained with Krause at Glory MMA & Fitness in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, is currently linked to the ongoing investigation involving James Krause, according to ESPN – an investigation which the UFC confirmed includes multiple government entities. 

Krause, and now-former UFC featherweight contender, Darrick Minner were both issued suspensions on their licenses from the NSAC, in relation to the latter’s November 5. first round TKO loss to Shayilan Nuerdianbieke, in which suspicious betting activity was flagged. 

ESPN attempted to receive comment from NSAC executive director Jeff Mullen amid Molina’s suspension by the commission, however, stressed he could not issue comment “until the meeting support material is released.”

A rescheduled middleweight matchup between the #11 ranked former interim title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum, and the streaking MMA Factory staple, the #12 rated challenger, Nassourdine Imavov is slated to take main event honors at UFC Vegas 67 on January 14. next from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gastelum and Imavov were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 273 back in April of this year, however, VISA issues ruled the latter from the fight and the bout was cancelled. Imavov was then replaced by Dricus Du Plessis, however, Gastelum was then removed from the fight after suffering an undisclosed injury.

In the midst of a two-fight losing skid in consecutive main event outings, Kelvin Gastelum, a nine-year UFC veteran, most recently dropped a unanimous decision loss to recent title challenger, Jared Cannonier back in August.

As for Imavov, the Fernand Lopez trainee featured at UFC Paris back at the beginning of this month, turning in consecutive victory number three with an impressive unanimous judging win over Joaquin Buckley at the Accor Arena in the French capital. French outlet, La Sueur was first to announce Gastelum’s main event rebooking against Imavov. 

Suffering defeats in five of his last six professional appearances, Kelvin Gastelum’s sole success in that period came in the form of a unanimous decision win over promotional veteran, Ian Heinisch at UFC 258 back in February of last year.

Competing for the interim middleweight crown back in 2019 against current champion, Israel Adesanya, Gastelum pushed the City Kickboxing staple the distance before suffering an eventual decision loss.

The Ulitmate Fighter 17 victor has landed notable Octagon wins over the likes of Uriah Hall, Rick Story, Jake Ellenberger, Nate Marquardt, Johny Hendricks, Tim Kennedy, as well as former middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, and Ronaldo Souza.

12-3 as a professional, Dagestan-born talent, Imavov added the aforenoted, Buckey to a string of prior stoppage triumphs over both Edmen Shahbazyan, and common-foe, Heinisch last year.

In his sole promotional blemish, Imavov suffered a majority decision loss to Phil Hawes in February of last year. Landing five knockout wins to go with four further submission finishes, Imavov landed in the UFC with a decision success against Jordan Williams.
