With the Oakland Raiders set to move to Las Vegas, the city is building a 65,000-seat stadium. And, according to UFC chief operations officer, Lawrence Epstein, the promotion could very well host a show there.

“The boxing and MMA events that have gone elsewhere … we’ve done events in Australia and Brazil and Canada that if we would have had a facility here in Las Vegas, we would have done [here],” Epstein told MMA Junkie.

“There have been events at (AT&T) Stadium (in Arlington, Texas) – big boxing events there. There’s no reason why those events wouldn’t have come to Las Vegas. I think combat sports is going to have a home in this facility.

“The stadium events are going to be special events,” he said. “They’re going to be that event that warrants this huge crowd and the ability to sell tickets associated with 65,000-seat stadiums.”

When the Octagon touches down in “Sin City”, most events have taken place at T-Mobile Arena. But, if massive events, potentially International Fight Week, have a major buzz around it, the fight could take place at the stadium.

But, the COO assures most of the events will still happen at T-Mobile Arena and it will be a rare occurrence that they do an event in the stadium.

Ever since Daniel Cormier beat Stipe Miocic to win the heavyweight title, many fans wanted to see Cormier vs. Jon Jones 3 at heavyweight. Since then, the rumors of a trilogy fight continue to take place, but there has been no confirmation if it will ever happen.

Now, at the UFC summer press conference, “DC” believes the trilogy fight can happen whenever.

“So this is the thing about a fight with Jones and I. It can always happen,” Cormier said (h/t MMA Fighting). “It can happen. Whether it’s here, whether it’s in an Octagon. It may happen in the back when I’m leaving the building. It just always happens. Neither him nor I ever shy away from the opportunity to punch each other in the face.

“So when I’m done with Stipe and Dana opens up the book and goes this is what you guys are getting paid, then you guys may get a third fight. But ultimately that’s what’s gonna determine it.”

There is no question the trilogy fight would be a massive fight and a massive payday for both fighters. But, Daniel Cormier has said he was going to retire before his 40th birthday, which now will not happen. However, “DC” says he is feeling much better and isn’t sure when he will retire, but will need to fight Miocic first before a potential Jon Jones fight.

“After back surgery, I felt worse initially. But now I feel better,” Cormier said. “I go into the gym now and I’m not leaned over. There were a lot of times where I would get off the wall after training and have to walk myself out of my back hurting. I would lean over at the waist and walk up to be straight, I couldn’t just stand straight. Now that I got this thing fixed and my training’s going well, I feel better than ever.

Reports came out that UFC president, Dana White was looking to overturn Jon Jones’ only loss which happened to come via disqualification. There, back in 2009 in his fourth UFC fight, “Bones” was dominating the fight on the ground. The ref could have very well stopped the fight. But, he didn’t and the now champ landed 12-6 elbows and he was DQ’d.

10 years later, the UFC is still trying to get that off his record.

“It was the weakest commission ever in the history of Nevada. And, the referee that reffed that fight shouldn’t have even been in there, and he disqualified Jon, which shouldn’t have happened, either,” White said last week on the Sedano Show. “So hopefully we can get that overturned.”

Now, at media day, Jon Jones was asked if he would like that lone loss from his record to be removed. And, he believes it would be a good thing for the Las Vegas-based promotion to market another undefeated champion.

“Look at the history books, man,” Jones said. “It doesn’t lie. If you look at my record, those numbers don’t lie. Honestly, I do see the good in it. I think it’d be great for the organization to market an undefeated champion.”

Although he says it is good for the history books, it is not something Jones necessarily wants. Rather, the light heavyweight champion likes not being undefeated as it takes the stress off of him wondering if that loss will ever come.

“Personally, it takes a lot of stress off me to not be this undefeated champion,” Jones said. “But I do see the good in it. Floyd Mayweather. Boxing has Floyd Mayweather. He means a lot to the sport of boxing. I see how my legacy means a lot to the sport, and if Dana wants me to be undefeated, I don’t think too many people would argue with him.”
