While Urijah Faber previously wasn’t interested in a fight with TJ Dillashaw, current circumstances have changed things.

Faber had a successful return from retirement in July when he knocked out Ricky Simon in the UFC Sacramento co-main event. He could now be in line for a title shot against bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo in the future.

However, one fight that holds plenty of intrigue is with Dillashaw. The two haven’t seen eye to eye ever since Dillashaw left Team Alpha Male to train in Colorado. And now that Faber is back, he is definitely interested in that fight, especially given the money that would likely be involved:

“I mean the only reason it interests me is because I think there’s probably some money involved in that fight,” Faber said during a recent Q&A with fans ahead of UFC Vancouver (via MMA Fighting). “For a long time I didn’t want to deal with the drama of the whole thing and it didn’t sound enticing to me.

“I was close with his family and what not, especially at the beginning of this. I don’t really feel like I know the guy, or I do know him, a fight with him would be a good one.”

However, any fight will have to wait until 2021 as Dillashaw is currently suspended following a positive EPO test.

Faber wasn’t surprised that the former bantamweight champion was on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) and believes the playing field will be evened out when he eventually returns.

“As far as waiting around, I’m not really the waiting around type for anything but we’ll see what happens,” Faber added. “He’ll be off the PEDs when he comes back and I’ll be 42 so that should even things out.”

Urijah Faber has fired back at Petr Yan’s manager, Daniel Rubenstein, for saying he has re-retired.

The manager took to Twitter yesterday to say Faber had turned down a fight with Yan and retired once again.

“Petr’s already accepted a fight vs Faber, but Faber is apparently re-retired. If Frankie wants to fight in Vegas Dec 14, would be Petr’s honor to fight a legend like him. Wish@funkmasterMMAa speedy recovery,” Rubenstein said.

“Since he was offered a fight vs Petr Yan,” he added.

Now, the UFC Hall of Famer, Faber, has fired back at Rubenstein for his comments. “The California Kid” took to Instagram to give his thoughts on what the manager had said. He had captioned the video, “Managers are getting desperate these days,” he wrote. “Get a life Ruby @dannyrube, and count ur lucky stars for Shelby giving u MMA life, he knows perfectly well my situation. Make a call.”

But, that was not all, as in the video Faer told Rubenstein if he has something to say he can contact him.

“Yo Rubenstein,” Faber said. “You and [UFC matchmaker Sean] Shelby have been sitting around the house, feeding each other corndogs, rustling up each other’s hair, talking about what’s good for Ruby sports. Keep my name out of your mouth. You don’t know what you’re talking about. I spoke with Dana [White] today.

“That’s who I’m dealing with on my next possible fight. If you have something to say about me, you can contact me. You have my information. Until then, you guys keep taking turns taking out the trash, and I’ll work with Dana.”

Who Faber is talking about regarding his next possible fight is currently unknown.

Urijah Faber still has his eyes set on a championship clash with Henry Cejudo.

Faber recently unretired and made his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) competition at UFC Sacramento in July when he made quick work of Ricky Simon. “The California Kid” finished Simon in under a minute via TKO in the first round. Now, Faber is calling for a championship bout with current double champ Cejudo.

Speaking at a fighter Q&A at Rogers Arena on Friday, Faber laid out his plans to “silence” Cejudo. (H/T MMA Fighting)

“Henry Cejudo’s got the world strap, a couple of them, and an Olympic gold medal, which I actually never set my goals on as a young wrestler. I probably should have,” Faber said.

“But that’s enticing, to snatch up a couple of belts and a gold medal and silence the cringe, would be a great step in the right direction for me and I think it’s a great matchup. He’s naturally a ‘25-pounder, I’m a big ‘35-pounder. He’s got the wrestling pedigree, I’ve got better jiu-jitsu. He breaks guys and I don’t break, so I think that’s a good matchup.”

Cejudo is currently nursing an injury and likely won’t be eligible to return until the first quarter of 2020. However, he has looked nothing short of spectacular since suffering his last defeat to Joseph Benavidez (a controversial split decision) in December of 2016. “The King Of Cringe” is on a five-fight win streak, capturing both the UFC’s flyweight and bantamweight title in the process.

He also has notable wins over Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw, and Marlon Moraes. Adding a Hall Of Fame name such as Faber to his resume would only make his career that much more impressive.

What do you make of Faber’s aspirations to land a fight with Cejudo? Do you think he’ll be able to earn a title shot?

UFC bantamweight contender Petr Yan isn’t letting it slide that Urijah Faber chose to ignore him as a potential opponent.

Faber came out of retirement last month and enjoyed a winning return to the Octagon when he knocked out Ricky Simon at UFC Sacramento. With bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo calling him out a month earlier, there was talk of the pair facing each other next.

However, Cejudo will be out for the rest of the year after requiring shoulder surgery. And so, Faber is targeting other opponents in the mean time — mainly Frankie Edgar and Aljamain Sterling.

And this didn’t go down well with Yan:

“Old @UrijahFaber is wise enough to not mention my name,” Yan tweeted. “Don’t act like you don’t know me California grown man. I beat your student, you are welcome to try avenge his loss.”

Yan is referring to Faber’s Team Alpha Male student in Teruto Ishihara who he knocked out in his UFC debut. In all, “No Mercy” is 5-0 in the UFC and has emerged as one of the top contenders at 135 pounds.

It will be interesting to see if Faber comes up with a response.

Do you think Yan deserves to fight for the title next? Or even Faber?
