In case it wasn’t obvious, Henry Cejudo isn’t serious about wanting to fight Valentina Shevchenko.

Cejudo has been calling out female fighters such as Shevchenko, Amanda Nunes, Germaine de Randamie and more in recent times. He claimed it was an attempt to become the first intergender champion in the UFC.

“Like I said man, I’m taking anybody from 99 pounds to 149 pounds,” Cejudo said. “And you know what? If Amanda Nunes wants to get it too – Valentina [Shevchenko], I’m calling you guys out too. I take no prisoners!”

Many acknowledge that Cejudo is just trying to make headlines and that all of this is in jest. However, some seem to believe he’s serious and have not taken his callouts too well.

For what it’s worth, it’s definitely not serious as Cejudo and Shevchenko were in Abu Dhabi this week ahead of UFC 242 as guest fighters. The pair had a faceoff before Shevchenko put him in a playful choke.

Cejudo was heard saying, “No mas! No mas!”

You can see the pictures from the now-deleted Instagram post below (screengrabs via MMA Junkie):

So the next time “Triple C” calls out another female fighter like Weili Zhang, don’t take it seriously.

Henry Cejudo Challenges Valentina Shevchenko For UFC 246 Main Event

The ongoing madness between UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo and women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has Dana White’s head buzzing. The ongoing madness between UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo and women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has Dana White’s head buzzing.

Cejudo started things off by challenging Shevchenko to a matchup for her women’s 125-pound title, as “Triple C” claimed he wanted to become the UFC’s first-ever intergender champion of the world. Of course, White shut such an idea down, calling it “the wackiest sh*t I’ve ever heard.”

But that hasn’t stopped Cejudo and Shevchenko from continuing to hype up such a contest. In fact, Shevchenko shared some photoshopped images of herself beating Cejudo inside the Octagon.

Cejudo responded by issuing Shevchenko an official challenge for the main event at the UFC 246 pay-per-view (PPV).

Obviously, no athletic commission would ever sanction a fight between a male and female fighter at the levels of which Cejudo and Shevchenko are competing. However, perhaps the pair could consider putting on a grappling contest for charity? As for what’s next for both fighters, Cejudo is nursing an injury that will keep him sidelined until the beginning of 2020.

Shevchenko just defended her title against Liz Carmouche in Uruguay, and is awaiting her next opponent.

What do you think about Cejudo challenging Shevchenko for UFC 246?
