Weili Zhang wants to settle the score with Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Recently, the former strawweight queen was interviewed by the South China Morning Post and said she wanted to “beat the s**t out of” Zhang in front of her native Chinese crowd.

“Anywhere, anytime,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Bangkok, Sri Lanka, Warsaw, Toronto, it doesn’t matter where. For me, it doesn’t matter. I will make my way. Even if we have to take a canoe, I will make it to China and beat the s**t out of her.”

Now, Zhang has taken to her Instagram to respond to Jedrzejczyk’s comments, saying she’s “ready now” to fight the Polish striker.

“She seems very angry? Don’t worry she will calm down. I am ready now. Call my manager.”

Zhang comes off of a phenomenal first-round stoppage win over Jessica Andrade to capture the 115-pound title. It was a massive coming-out party for Zhang, who was able to have her moment in front of her native Chinese crowd. As for Jedrzejczyk, she just picked up a decision win over Michelle Waterson to earn a title opportunity. With the beef seeming to heat up between the pair, a fight announcement could be inevitable.

What do you make of a matchup between Zhang and Jedrzejczyk?

Joanna Jedrzejczyk wants the opportunity to challenge newly-crowned 115-pound UFC champion Weili Zhang.

Jedrzejczyk once ruled the division herself with an iron fist, before being shockingly dethroned by Rose Namajunas. After a failed bid at the 125-pound title, Jedrzejczyk has dropped back down to strawweight.

With her win over Michelle Waterson at UFC Tampa, Jedrzejczyk has been promised a title opportunity. Speaking to the South China Morning Post, Jedrzejczyk said she’s more than willing to “beat the sh*t” out of Zhang in front of her own native Chinese crowd.

“I signed an agreement before the fight with Michelle Waterson,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I knew that after I got the victory I was going to fight for the belt. This is what’s going to happen next, and I’m just waiting for the date and the location, and then we’re going to rock it.

“Anywhere, anytime. Bangkok, Sri Lanka, Warsaw, Toronto, it doesn’t matter where. For me, it doesn’t matter. I will make my way. Even if we have to take a canoe, I will make it to China and beat the s*** out of her.”

Zhang has previously said that she has no interest in fighting Jedrzejczyk right now. However, she might ultimately have no choice.

What do you think about a fight between Jedrzejczyk and Zhang? Who would come out on top?

Weili Zhang is the new face of the UFC’s 115-pound division, and may already have her first title defense lined up. Ex-division queen, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, comes off a big win over Michelle Waterson in Tampa, Florida.

With the win, Jedrzejczyk has been promised a title shot next. Despite Zhang saying she has no interest in fighting Jedrzejczyk, the fight may be inevitable. Zhang captured the 115-pound crown by taking out former champion Jessica Andrade in the first round this past August.

Speaking to MMA Fighting recently, Andrade, who has felt first-hand what both Jedrzejczyk and Zhang are capable of, gave her prediction for how a fight between the pair would go down. Andrade said she doesn’t think Jedrzejczyk will be able to handle the power and pressure Zhang brings to the table.

“A fight with Joanna would be very interesting,” Andrade said. “Joanna is one of the best in the division, and she has evolved a lot, as we saw in her last fight. Weili Zhang is very strong, is really fast on the feet, so I it would be really interesting.

“It’s a hard one to predict who would win, but I’d bet on Weili Zhang. I think she would continue to reign, because of her strength. Even though she’s not the type of fighter that goes for takedowns and prefers to stay on the feet, she’s very strong and kicks really hard – something Joanna doesn’t handle that well.”

Jedrzejczyk is on a two-fight win streak at strawweight and presents an interesting stylistic matchup for the new champion. She’s easily the best striker Zhang would have ever shared the cage with, but Zhang presents a whole new meaning of power and pressure in the 115-pound weight division. A fight between the pair would surely be nothing short of exceptional.

What do you think about Jedrzejczyk’s chances against Zhang?
