UFC president Dana White recently did an interview with Telegraph.co.uk where he defended UFC 120 and the matches that make up the card. With the fight going to the O2 Arena, London, on October 16 and featuring British fighter Michael Bisping as he takes on Yoshihiro Akiyama many British fans have been questioning the quality of the card. Here’s White’s response:
For those of you at work who can’t access the video, or those who just don’t want to, here’s a little of what was said:
“You can look down the list and say whatever you want but we are going to bring a bad*** show that you are going to love to be at live and the fights are going to kick a** and you are going to leave the arena or turn off your tv that night and go ‘I didn’t just waste my Saturday night’…Yeah, we do showcase English talent when we are there in England, but we do it here too. We have Brits fighting over here, too. We have just had a card in Oakland [UFC 117] with five Brazilians against five Americans…How can anyone b**** with Akiyama fighting. Akiyama-Leben [a few weeks ago] is one of the best fights I have ever seen in my life. And Every time Akiyama comes, he brings it, man. This guy comes to fight…And Bisping…Listen, whether you don’t like Bisping, or you love Bisping – first of all the first thing I love about Michael Bisping, is that Michael Bisping wants to be the best. He wants to win a title so bad. Michael Bisping is not afraid to come out and bang with you. He’ll go toe-to-toe with you, he’ll go to the ground, and that’s going to be a fun fight too…And at the end of the day, man, this guy is going to come out and give it all he’s got and Akiyama is a beast. I love that fight.”
