Jacob “Stitch” Duran has been one of the most beloved figures in combat sports for the past two decades.
The seasoned cutman has been an integral part of the fight night business for the UFC as he’s worked his magic on nearly every fighter who has come and gone under the UFC banner throughout his career. His presence inside the Octagon has ensured some of the best fights in the promotion’s history have been allowed to play out.
Where others have risen in the field of working cuts and wrapping hands backstage, there is only one “Stitch”.
The relationships Duran has forged working closely with the fighters in mixed martial arts have allowed him to have some interesting interactions along the way, and The Ultimate Show is here to bring you another installment of “Stitch’s Stories.”
In this episode, the cutman extraordinaire recalls a particular interaction with one of the most polarizing figures in all of mixed martial arts…Nick Diaz. The proud Stockton representative and former Strikeforce welterweight champion has been one of the most electric personalities in MMA throughout his career, and Duran recalls a particular conversation the two men shared while he was wrapping the former UFC title challenger’s hands before a fight.
With both sharing heritage in the 209 area code, Duran had a few interesting questions below and the answers he received are further proof of the bond he has formed with fighters over the years.
