MMA fans haven’t been able to use a digital version of their favorite fighter since UFC Undisputed 3 came out in 2012. That will soon change when EA Sports releases their UFC game later this year.
To keep fans on the edge of their seats, EA Sports has released a preview video showing just how they were able to capture the incredible likeness of everyone’s favorite fighter.
The video showcases some behind-the-scenes footage of the EA Sports crew using motion-capture technology to mold images of a few fighters. The shot of Cain Velasquez’s side profile is particularly telling as the imaging software captures every small detail, even the ridges in the heavyweight champ’s cauliflower ear.
There are a few shots from the gameplay, but those are just for the entrances, not an actual fight. Still, the graphics look amazing, and from what they’ve revealed so far, every fighter will have their own unique entrance.
Showcased are Georges St-Pierre walking out with his usual attire, Jon Jones doing his cartwheel in the cage, and even UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey makes an appearance.
It isn’t EA Sports’ first time making a MMA game, which will undoubtedly help them make a great product. There’s also the fact that the game has been in development for quite some time, which should prevent them from feeling under pressure to release by a certain deadline.
Speaking of deadlines, the video still shows a “Spring 2014” release date, but no firm date has been given as of yet. But with EA Sports promising more video releases soon, you can bet MMA fans will be eagerly awaiting the game’s release.
