UFC Fight Night 48 started the UFC’s two-event day. The card took place in Macau, China, and underwhelmed nearly everyone.
Up until the final two bouts, it could have been placed among the worst UFC cards in history. It was a terrible showing. However, the top-tier athletes in the final two bouts came to perform.
The fans who decided to sleep in and miss the card did not miss much. In fact, if you missed the action, you may have been better off. The first eight fights were that awful. Regardless, it was just the appetizer for the UFC’s evening event from Tulsa.
Let’s take a look at the main card results and recap all the action that took place.
Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le
Bisping put on a show in Macau on Saturday.
For just over three rounds, Bisping battered the former Strikeforce champion with his volume boxing. Le was able to land a few shots here and there, but the pace and volume of Bisping‘s strikes wore on him over the rounds.
One of the most devastating punches Bisping landed was one to the eye of Le. It caused major swelling, and Le winced out of it continuously. The impaired vision played into Bisping‘s hands.
Finally, in the fourth round, Bisping put together a fight-ending combination. It was a knee that dropped Le, and Bisping finished up his work on the ground. After the fight, Bisping called out Luke Rockhold, the two having traded words in the past.
It was a good ending to a poor card and one of Bisping‘s best performances.
Dong Hyun Kim vs. Tyron Woodley
Kim’s new, exciting style earned him notoriety, but Woodley knocked him back to earth.
Kim came out aggressive and then got clocked while throwing a spinning backfist. Woodley capitalized on the knockdown for a quick TKO victory. It took all of 61 seconds for the No. 4-ranked contender to move back into the win column.
Quick, exciting and impressive. There’s not much more to say.
Zhang Lipeng vs. Brendan O’Reilly
Just another awful fight on this fight card.
O’Reilly had cardio issues, and Lipeng took advantage. To Lipeng‘s credit, he did look much improved in all areas of MMA. The TUF: China winner is steadily getting better. His performances will only help advance MMA in the Chinese market.
Even so, the truth is this fight was terrible.
Lipeng got the decision win, and that’s what was important for him. He’ll keep moving forward in his career.
Ning Guangyou vs. Jianping Yang
The first fight of the card was woeful. The most entertaining thing about the fight was the reactions it got on Twitter from both fans and media.
The crowd erupted in boos at the conclusion of the inaction. The two combined for 74 total strikes over the course of 15 minutes. No one will remember this fight in the long run. Completely forgettable.
The featherweight winner for The Ultimate Fighter: China ended up being Ning Guangyou.

- Milana Dudieva defeated Elizabeth Phillips via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
