Cody Gibson won’t be winning any UFC bonuses for his brief scuffle a little over a week ago at a bar in downtown Las Vegas.
It was two fights in one night for the 27-year-old UFC fighter, who was enjoying a Saturday night out after a disappointing loss to Manny Gamburyan at UFC 178. According to TMZ.com, Gibson got into an argument with an unnamed individual at a bar.
The celebrity gossip website managed to capture video footage of the incident, which depicts an all-too-familiar bar scene.
A heated verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical confrontation when the unnamed individual shoved Gibson backwards. The UFC fighter got up and playfully taunted with his fighter-ready stance, maintaining a relatively calm demeanor in a tense situation.
Instead of going into full-on attack mode, Gibson informed the guy that he was a professional MMA fighter. Perhaps the phrase “Google me, b—h” wasn’t the best response, as it only added fuel to a growing fire.
Without hesitation, the unnamed individual reared back and punched Gibson right in the kisser. Showcasing a chin of adamantium, Gibson ate the punch and delivered a takedown to his assailant.
Security quickly rushed in to break up the fight as soon as things tumbled onto the floor, ensuring that no one was seriously injured. TMZ is also reporting that there were no arrests made after the incident.
All in all, one could say things ended well for both parties.
Gibson went home without a lawsuit, and the unnamed individual escaped with his teeth intact and a crazy story to tell.
