Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort will run it back. The two MMA veterans will clash in November in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
UFC Fight Night 78 will be the event on November 7.
The two first met in PRIDE 32 in 2006. Henderson grabbed a unanimous decision victory over the fast and powerful striker. The victory helped elevate Henderson to a 205-pound title tilt that he would win over Wanderlei Silva.
A lot of time passed by before their rematch. They headlined UFC Fight Night 32 in 2013, and Belfort got his revenge. In just 77 seconds, Belfort blasted Henderson with a head kick that knocked him out.
Since that fight, Henderson is 2-2. After back-to-back losses to Daniel Cormier and Gegard Mousasi, there were questions as to whether Henderson still had anything left in the tank. He proved that he is not quite done with a knockout over Tim Boetsch in June.
Belfort waited more than a year for a title shot after beating Henderson, and it didn’t go well. Chris Weidman thumped him in under three minutes to retain the middleweight championship.
The big question surrounding the trilogy fight with Belfort-Henderson will be: At what weight does it happen? Both men are ranked at 185-pounds, but the two-division stars met at 205 in both of their previous meetings. As neither are not in immediate contention at either weight, they could fight in either division. There is no word on what division that is going to happen at.
The fight will headline the UFC Fight Night 78 event and be five rounds.
