Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman had successful neck surgery on Wednesday by Dr. K. Daniel Riew and is already calling for his next fight. While Weidman could fight Luke Rockhold, who he lost to at UFC 194 and was planning to fight at UFC 199, Weidman has different plans. The fight that Weidman wants is against the new champ Michael Bisping.
Weidman wants the fight to take place at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 12 and posted this on Instagram:
“Hey, Mike Bisping, was it a little easier saying my name before the opportunity of fighting me came? I don’t hear you now,” Weidman wrote. “I’m sorted out, bum.
“Let’s see you try to shut me up Nov 12th on the biggest stage in the world. The fairytale is over soon, believe you me.”
Bisping responded to Weidman via Twitter:
“Bum? your coming off a loss to the guy I just Knocked out cold. Fight rockhold, win, and we’ll see. I call the shots.#facts.”
The UFC has some options on the table in the middleweight division which is a good thing. It would make sense for both Weidman and Rockhold to fight for the title next. However, only one can right away. It should be very interesting to see what the UFC does next.
