According to a report from Russian news outlet MKRU, the daughter of legendary mixed martial arts (MMA) heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko was attacked and hospitalized in Moscow.
Emelianenko’s 16-year-old daughter (who is incorrectly said to be 9-years-old in the MKRU report) was reportedly on her way home from school when she was attacked by unknown assailants. The young woman was kicked in the chest and was left a nasty bruise to show for it.
The girl was reportedly taken to the Research Institute of Children’s Emergency Surgery and Traumatology where she was diagnosed with “contusion of the chest and abdomen.”
Police have also said that the girl is refusing to identify her assailants, as she appears to be too shaken to identify them. The article suggests she may be intimidated by those who attacked her.
Interestingly enough the attacks occurred on October 9th, which coincides with Fedor’s criticisms of MMA fights which involved children hosted in Chechnya by Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov.
Fedor took to social media to state:
“What happened in Grozny is unacceptable & cannot be justified.”
Fedor’s comments sparked an investigation by the Kremlin and the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation, gaining the attention of Kadyrov’s men in Chechnya as a result.
The Russian legend’s disapproval of the child fights also sparked controversy amongst professional fighters around the world as well. WSOF flyweight champion Magomed Bibulatov, State Duma member Adam Delimkhanov, and No. 1-ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov who were in favor of the child bouts.
Kadyrov requested for Emelianenko to delete his comments, which he obliged, claiming the heavyweight ‘realized his mistake’.
