Pump the breaks on ‘GSP’s’ free agency run folks.
Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre shook the mixed martial arts (MMA) world earlier today when he announced that his legal team has terminated his contract with the UFC:
“Well, right now I’m a free agent. You heard it right, I’m a free agent. My lawyer terminated the contract with the UFC.”
The UFC fired back later today (October 17, 2016) courtesy of ESPN’s Brett Okamoto with a statement claiming that St-Pierre is in fact not a free agent, and that they intend to ‘reserves its rights’ to the Canadian star:
“Georges St-Pierre remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC as his MMA promoter.” (Cont)
(Cont) “Zuffa intends to honor its agreement with St-Pierre and reserves its rights under the law to have St-Pierre do the same.”
