UFC on FOX 22 has come and gone and the massively entertaining event earlier tonight (Saturday December 17, 2017) produced some of the best bouts and performances we’ve seen this year.
In our kickoff preliminary bout on FS1 Leslie Smith and Irene Aldana slugged it out in an absolute war. While both women put on an incredibly exciting bout, it was Smith who took home the unanimous decision win. Fans at the Golden 1 Center were on their feet for the entire fight, and that’s why these two women took home Fight Of The Night Honors, along with an extra $50K.
The headliner for the night’s preliminary card featured a bout between UFC newcomer Paul Craig and Luis Henrique da Silva. Craig was able to lock in a beautiful armbar in a sequence that began with a triangle choke. For his impressive debut performance Craig will take home $50K and Performance Of The Night.
Finally in our main event former atomweight champion Michelle Waterson and No. 7-ranked UFC strawweight Paige VanZant would close out a great night of fighting in Sacramento. After Waterson got the fight to the ground she was able to implement her strong jiu-jitsu game and lock in a tight rear-naked choke, causing ‘PVZ’ to pass out and giving ‘The Karate Hottie’ the win.
Waterson also took home Performance Of The Night and $50K, to go along with the biggest win of her mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
