Relive the flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo.
Henry Cejudo will be defending his flyweight belt against UFC bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw this weekend. To promote the upcoming super-fight, the promotion has released full video of Cejudo’s title win over Demetrious Johnson.
The flyweight title bout went the distance and Cejudo won a split decision with the official scores of 48-47, 48-47, and 47-48. Cejudo continued to show a lot of improvements to his overall MMA game, but it was indeed a razor thin decision that could’ve gone either way.
The two judges who scored it for Cejudo, gave him rounds 2, 4 and 5, mostly because of the three takedowns and top control he had on those rounds. Johnson landed more strikes, connecting with 81 significant strikes and 121 total strikes, compared to Cejudo’s 51 and 80 strikes respectively.
For what it’s worth, Bloody Elbow had it 49-46 to Johnson at the time. According to MMA Decisions, 13 media members scored it 48-47 for Cejudo, while 12 scored it for Johnson, including three who scored four of the five rounds to DJ.
