According to MMAFighting.com, “Fight Now TV,” a 24-hour combat sports channel, is scheduled to launch today in New York and the tri-state area.
The channel, which was a two-year project to create, will be dedicated to featuring all combat sports including mixed martial arts, boxing, grappling and kickboxing.
Considering one of the company’s minority owners is none other than UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, MMA would be have to be considered to be one of the channel’s featured programs.
Creator and founder Mike Garrow said the company will take time to grow, but it will ultimately establish itself as a top product.
“I want people to understand we’re trying to put our best foot forward,” Garrow told MMAFighting.com.
Garrow said the channel has bought rights to feature domestic and international events in MMA, including two franchises, “American Made MMA” and “Global Impact MMA,” as well as to cover all content from MMA’s top promotions like, UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce through news programs, interviews and backstage access.
Garrow was the former mastermind behind “The Fight Network,” a Canadian combat sports channel that had a goal to appeal throughout North America; however Garrow split from the product and the channel never grew with its audience and its expectations never really blossomed.
But minority owner, Randy Couture, acknowledged Garrow in creative control and said he is the right person to help bring this product to new heights.
“He’s the guy who had all the pieces. He still has the original napkin he wrote the idea down on when he first came up with it. He has the passion to connect the dots and make this happen,” Couture said.
While there still are many things to be done before the channel launches, Garrow said it will shed some positive light on MMA. The fact that a 24 hour-a day channel exists, it will also feature in-depth coverage of upcoming and current events through news programs, interviews and expert analysts, including Couture.
Garrow said that the channel will not only serve as an outlet for fans of MMA, but for all fans of combat sports.
There is a ton of stuff in the combative sports genre, and we can provide that kind of programming to fans. There is a ton of opportunity and need for this kind of channel,” he said.
