Since the heavily rumored bout between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz was announced, most fans would expect other crossover fights between the two promotions to eventually occur, but nothing has materialized.

Even with the hype and build-up between the two welterweight champions, UFC president Dana White has turned down the idea and assured that negotiations between both camps are all but confirmed.

“We literally have nothing done on that yet,” White said regarding the potential bout.

Since Zuffa’s acquisition of Strikeforce, White held back on the idea of promoting superfights between the two organizations and would honour Strikeforce’s current contract obligations with Showtime. But the recent changes over the last month have most critics and fans believing that it is only a matter of time before the UFC becomes the premier organization in all of mixed martial arts.

In regards to superfights between the two organizations, White said the purpose of his job is to offer the fans the best fights possible, and he is hopeful that those fights that fans are requesting, will be eventually contested between Strikeforce and UFC.

It is a goal of his that he intends to focus on, despite the minor setbacks.

“As soon as possible,” White replied, when asked about a timeline regarding cross-promotional fights.

While one can imagine the numerous amount of matchups to feature between the two organization’s top stars, St-Pierre vs. Diaz is one dream fight that could be the first that becomes a reality for most fans.

However it is up to Zuffa and the UFC to do the necessary work in order to see if and when these bouts will come to fruition.
