UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright talks about this coming weekends UFC 131 event in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Wright feels that one of the reasons the event hasn’t sold out yet is due to the success of the cities NHL team the Vancouver Canucks. He does feel that Rogers Arena will be full come fight night this Saturday.
Wright talks about the loss of Brock Lesnar from the card, the rest of the card including Kenny Florian’s drop to featherweight. He also plans on talking to the city of Vancouver about the future of the sport in the Province and working with them to form a Commission. Currently the sport is not regulated by an overall commission like it is in Ontario and Quebec.
The UFC Director of Canadian Operations feels that Canadians should only expect to get three events a year, with the next date likely taking place on December 10 in either Montreal or Toronto. The promotion is also looking at a “TUF” Canadian series, along with international series, plus a whole lot more.
