It appears that fans of mixed martial arts in Brazil have been eagerly awaiting the return of the Ultimate Fighting Championship to their country as tickets for the sold out in just one hour and 14 minutes.
– In just one hour and 14 minutes, tickets to the UFC’s return to Brazil on August 27th have sold out, setting the stage for what will be an incredible night inside Rio’s HSBC Arena when Anderson Silva defends his UFC middleweight crown against Yushin Okami in the UFC 134 main event.
The plan, according to UFC Persident Dana White, was for tickets to go on sale to Brazilians first starting at midnight on Thursday, then to the rest of the World on Friday afternoon. Well the rest of the World never got a chance as Brazilians bought all available tickets in just over an hour.
White stated during Thursday’s Rio press conference that there would be 16,752 seats available in the HSBC Arena, so it’s likely that not all seats were made available for sale Friday morning. The promotion doesn’t always release all tickets for an event at once, so can expect more tickets to be made available at some point in the future.
UFC 134: Silva vs. Okami is scheduled to take place on Aug. 27 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between champion, and Brazilian, Anderson Silva, who defends his title against challenger Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami.
Also in action will be Brazilian heroes Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira, who will face Forrest Griffin and Brendan Schaub, respectively on this historic night, which marks the first UFC event in Brazil since 1998.
