Nate Marquardt Withdraws From UFC Live Event

Nate Marquardt was scheduled to make his welterweight debut on Sunday, June 26, but it now seems that will have to wait as MMAunkie.com is reporting that Marquardt has withdrawn from the event just hours before weigh-ins were scheduled to take place.

Marquardt was scheduled to face off against rising star Rick Story in the main event on Sunday night from Pittsburgh, PA’s Consol Energy Center.

MMAJunkie reports that the following statement was issued from Marquardt’s camp, “Nate is really disappointed. He really was looking forward to making his welterweight debut, and he plans to be back in there as soon as possible.”

Story who was a replacement himself on the fight card, taking Anthony Johnson’s spot against Marquardt, will now face off against Charlie Brenneman.

The UFC has had a rough go as of late with main card fighters withdrawing from fights, most due to injury. Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones, Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, BJ Penn and Jon Fitch were all forced from recent and upcoming cards.
