UFC News: More Information on Nate Marquardt’s Suspension Comes to Light
Bleacher Report’s Andrew Barr:
It was announced yesterday that Nate Marquardt had been forced to withdraw from his main event bout with Rick Story.
Since then, rumors have been swirling have been swirling about why Nate was forced off of the card.
Many have speculated that it was likely due to Marquardt not being able to make weight, or being injured. There was even some talk of Nate being busted for using banned substances.
According to mmajunkie.com, all of the aforementioned speculations were inaccurate and Nate’s suspension was actually due to some routine paperwork.
The Pennsylvania Sate Athletic Commission is still refusing to shed any light on what the specific requirements Nate failed to meet were, PSAC executive director Gregory Sirb did make it clear that Marquardt was given plenty of time to address the issue.
“We gave him every opportunity,” Sirb said. “The last report we got was 4:00 yesterday. We had given him as much leeway as we could, but obviously, when you’ve got a live event, you’ve got to make a call at that time.
