Last week UFC president Dana White said that in the not too distant future, the promotion would present a fight card in Japan on the same day that they would hold an event in Las Vegas. On Saturday, White added some detail to that teaser.

Dave Meltzer broke the original story on Yahoo.com, reporting that White had informed him, “When we go to Japan next year, we are going to be putting on a show at the same time in Las Vegas.”

Following the UFC on Versus 6 card, which took place on October 1 from Washington D.C.’s Verizon Center, White spoke to select media, including Bleacher Report MMA, saying, “The fight in Japan would go live on free TV before the pay-per-view.” White also promised that “Both cards would be stacked.”

In early September the UFC announced that they would return to Japan on February 26, 2012. The card will be the UFC’s first visit to Japan since UFC 29, which was held in December 2000. The 16- hour time difference between Las Vegas and Japan will allow the fights to be viewed on the same day for the United States market. The promotion has not revealed who would fight on either the Japan or Las Vegas fight cards.

While details remain scant on the actual fight cards, it appears that MMA fans will be able to hang a do not disturb sign on their door on the last Saturday in February, 2012.
