Michael Chandler has officially made himself known in the mixed martial arts main stream.
The former collegiate wrestler recently bested a field of eight win he was featured in Bellator’s most recent lightweight tournament, where he defeated tourney favorite Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in the finals.
Next, Chandler earned his shot at the 155-pound champion in Eddie Alvarez, who is widely considered to be amongst the top 5 best fighters in the division.
In an early “Fight of the Year” candidate, Chandler bested the heavy hitter en route to a fourth round submission finish, claiming the prestigious world title in the process.
