Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White handed out just two “Fight Night” bonuses for Friday nights (Dec. 30, 2011) UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem event.
Earning an extra $75,000 for their efforts were Johny Hendricks, Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone who all competed on the nights main card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With no submissions occurring during the evening no “Submission of the Night” bonus was handed out. Hendricks would earn the “Knockout of the Night” payday for his quick KO, while co-main event fighters Diaz and Cerrone would earn the “Fight of the Night” bonus.
Hendricks faced Jon Fitch in the third bout of the pay-per-view, taking just twelve-seconds to finish the former No. 1 welterweight contender. A left hook would send Fitch to the mat, out before his body would even touch the floor.
Diaz and Cerrone went three rounds in the co-main event, with excitement built up over the past few days of bad blood between the two. Diaz would showcase superior boxing throughout the fight, easily taking the first round by scoring four-punch combos against a stunned Cerrone. In the second and third rounds, the ‘Cowboy’ would battle back using leg kicks to take the feet from under Diaz. But it was too little too late, with Diaz earning a clear unanimous decision.
