It only took UFC welterweight Erick Silva 29-seconds to finish opponent Carlo Prater during the main card of the UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes event, but it only took a few seconds for all of it to come crashing down around the young Brazilian fighter.

Silva appeared to have stopped Prater with hammerblows to the side of the head with referee Mario Yamasaki stepping in to end the bout. Silva appeared to pick up his second win and was celebrating his victory when it was announced that Yamasaki had ended the fight over illegal blows to the back of the head, thus disqualifying Silva and handing the victory over to Prater.

Replays of the action showed that most of the strikes were to the side of Prater’s head and Yamasaki was left to defend himself after being put on the spot by UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

The loss still stands but there is a small silver lining as UFC officials confirmed via Twitter (@ufc) that Silva would earn his win bonus for the fight.

They did not, however, divulge what the amount of that bonus.
