UFC 144 – Jake Shields Found It Hard To Train For A “Judo Guy” Like Yoshihiro Akiyama; Says Nick Diz Will Compete Again

Former Strikeforce champ and UFC contender, Jake Shields, is set to welcome Yoshihiro Akiyama to the welterweight division. Shields says it’s hard to train for a “top level Judo guy” with very few at the top competing in mixed martial arts. Training has taken Shields to various camps, including his own with Team Caesar Gracie, some time with Michael Bisping, to training with the Blackzillians. When the subject of teammate Nick Diaz came up, Shields assured the interviewer that Diaz would fight again.
