The UFC’s popular reality television series is headed to the land down under this fall.
UFC President Dana White announced earlier tonight via his Twitter account that The Ultimate Fighter will be going to Australia later this year saying:
It’s official!!! Ultimate Fighter is going to Australia. TUF Australia vs TUF UK “The Smaches” in Fall 2012 🙂
— Dana White (@danawhite) May 11, 2012
The new season will pit contestants from Australia against fellow fighters from the United Kingdom, an unprecedented country versus country move that has not been featured on the show since its ninth season.
The series recently started its overseas expansion with the current run of The Ultimate Fighter in Brazil, featuring both the featherweight and middleweight divisions.
The show, which premiered back in March, also stars former UFC champion Vitor Belfort alongside former Pride champion and MMA veteran Wanderlei Silva as coaches.
No announcement has been made yet as to what divisions will be featured or who the season’s coaches will be.
