On Friday night, Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson will face off in a rematch of their previous fight which ended in a draw—but not without some controversy.
There’s a full fight card on Friday, with four fights on the main card, and eight on the preliminary card on Fuel TV. Many are expecting the McCall and Johnson fight to be the best fight of the night.
But the main event can’t be considered the show stealer, so what other fight could steal the show?
If you asked me, I’d say that it will be the Leonard Garcia and Matt Grice fight on Fuel.
We all know about how Garcia fights. He can fight technically, then once he gets tired, he starts winging punches, throwing haymakers and being generally crazy in the cage, and it is fantastic.
Garcia puts on some of the most exciting fights in MMA, and has earned fight of the night honors four times and fight of the year once.
His battles with Nam Phan both earned fight of the night, a pair of decisions that were split between the two. He also won fight of the night for a split draw with George Roop in the WEC, and earned fight of the year for the memorable battle with Chan Sung Jung at WEC 48.
Garcia’s opponent is Matt Grice, who is making his sixth appearance inside the Octagon.
Grice has compiled a record of 14-4, and has won eight fights with striking related stoppages. His willingness to throw hands will favor Garcia, and will lead to a fantastic fight.
Even better for Garcia is the fact that he has never been knocked out, and Grice has lost due to strikes twice.
The odds are stacked in Garcia’s favor, but whatever goes down, this fight will be an all-out brawl.
