The UFC will make its return to the United Kingdom on September 29 when the promotion presents UFC on Fuel TV 5 from the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England. It has been announced that a scrap between two up-and-coming heavyweight fighters, Stipe Miocic and Stefan Struve, will headline the card.

The bout, scheduled for five rounds, was confirmed by MMAWeekly.com.

Struve has been making a slow and steady climb up the UFC’s heavyweight rankings since making his debut with the promotion back in February 2009. Struve fell to Junior dos Santos via a first-round TKO in that bout, but he got on track after the loss and won his next three before suffering another first-round TKO, this time at the hands of Roy Nelson.

Struve ran off two wins after the loss to Nelson before once again suffering a first-round knockout loss, falling to a Travis Browne superman punch at UFC 130. The fighter, who goes by the nickname “Skyscraper,” has not lost since that May 2011 bout and is currently in the midst of a three-fight winning streak, with two submission wins and one TKO.

Miocic came to the UFC with a significant amount of hype behind him, as he had gone 6-0 as a professional before signing his name to a UFC contract. Not one of those six bouts had gone the distance, with Miocic earning five KO/TKO wins and one submission.

In his UFC debut he met Joey Beltran, and while he failed to stop Beltran, Miocic did earn a unanimous decision victory to keep his unbeaten streak alive. In his next two bouts, Miocic got back to his old ways and ended each fight early, stopping Phillip De Fries by KO and Shane del Rosario by TKO.

Struve will bring an overall record of 24-5 into the Octagon in Nottingham, while Miocic’s record stands at 9-0.
