When it was announced that the UFC would head to Nottingham, England for UFC on FX 5 it seemed as if Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, who hails from Nottingham, would be a perfect fit for the card. When the first few fights were revealed for the event and Hardy’s name was not among the fighters it seemed as if Hardy might not get the chance to fight in front of his hometown crowd.

That changed on Tuesday when it was announced that Hardy would indeed compete on the card, facing Amir Sadollah on the September 29 fight card. MMAFighting.com first announced the news of the fight, which will join a heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic on the card.

Hardy (24-10-1) has not fought in his hometown since he defeated Chad Reiner on a Cage Warriors fight card in April 2008. Shortly after that victory, Hardy made the move to the UFC, running off four consecutive wins and earning a shot at UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Hardy was unsuccessful in his attempt to unseat St-Pierre, with that loss being the first of four consecutive defeats for Hardy.  The pressure was on Hardy when he stepped into the Octagon at UFC 146 and Hardy delivered, knocking out Duane Ludwig in the first round.

Sadollah, the winner of season seven of The Ultimate Fighter, will take a 6-3 record with him when he travels to Nottingham. In his last bout, which took place on the May 15 UFC on Fuel card, he stopped Jorge Lopez via split decision.

Two other fights have been announced for the Nottingham card, Andy Ogle versus Akira Corassani, while Brad Pickett will meet Yves Jabouin.

The card will take place at the Capital FM Arena.
