Edson Barboza was once the hottest prospect in MMA, but in one fell swoop, many have failed to bring his name up in topics of conversation.
Now, in the fallout of his first loss, Barboza is left pondering. The man who put him to sleep, effectively handing him his first loss, is a man that is still on his mind.
According to Tatame.com, Barboza is interested in rematching the resurgent Jamie Varner.
Varner, of course, is the man who knocked Barboza out in a late replacement fight. It was a fight that put the former WEC champ back on the map.
Of course, Barboza is a company man, so he will take whatever challenge they lay in front of him.
What’s gone is gone. But of course it would be a fight I’d like to do later, even because I didn’t do my best and he found me first, so I couldn’t show how prepared I was. But if I have another chance things will be different. I’d let go and really go for it.
A rematch between the two does not seem imminent, due to the decisiveness of the knockout.
What still remains to be seen is the ability to forget about a loss and continue on his journey. For Barboza, that is imperative following such a brutal knockout loss.
In the meantime, Barboza remains on the rebound. With a guy as exciting as himself, it should not be tough to keep his fans and continue throwing haymakers like he is accustomed to.
