UFC on Fuel TV 5 has come and gone, and has left us with some surprising moments, excellent fights and a slew of impressive finishes.
After the matches were in the books, UFC analysts Kenny Florian and Jon Anik took to the mics to recap the action, taking a closer look at the show’s two main events.
Headlining the Nottingham, England-based show was an attraction featuring a pair of up-and-coming heavyweight talents, namely Stipe Miocic and Stefan Struve.
Miocic entered the bout as a decided favorite, but succumbed to the considerable power generated by Struve‘s massive limbs and suffered a second round TKO defeat.
The win was the Skyscraper’s fourth straight. It also marked his fourth consecutive stoppage.
On the other side of the coin, the result signifies the first and only loss of Miocic‘s career.
UFC on Fuel TV 5 also featured the homecoming of Dan Hardy, a Nottingham boy, who was tasked with taking on former Ultimate Fighter champion Amir Sadollah. The bout began competitively, but Hardy began putting it on his American counterpart in the second round, coasting to a convincing 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 unanimous decision victory.
For Hardy, the win was his second in a row, as the Brit continues to climb his way back into welterweight relevancy after previously dropping four straight contests.
The loss moves Sadollah‘s record to 6-4, and marks the second time in his past three matches that he has suffered a decision loss.
That about puts a wrap on the event. Enjoy the insight from Ken-Flo and Anik.
