The return of UFC Welterweight Champion Georges “Rush” St-Pierre has been a hot topic amongst MMA‘s most hardcore fans, and the champ didn’t go light with his first fight back.

On November 17 in Montreal, GSP is scheduled to face interim champ, Carlos Condit, for the undisputed welterweight crown in a fight both the fighters and organization really need.

GSP is coming off a devastating knee injury that has sidelined him for the past 18 months. Now, he comes in with a mission to prove that he didn’t lose a step against a man that has carried the division for the entire time that GSP has been injured.

Carlos Condit is looking for that recognition that GSP currently has. He has the talent, but not the household name that he seeks. He’s looking to change all of that by defeating a man to whom many consider pound-for-pound the best in the world. While he has had successful victories against Nick Diaz and Dan Hardy, becoming the welterweight champ against the king will definitely give Condit the recognition that he feels he deserves—to be mentioned as one of the best in the world.

UFC 154 is a card that the Zuffa (parent company of the UFC and Strikeforce) executives really needs to go off without a hitch. And there’s a lot riding on the card.

Recent injuries to Dan Henderson and Jose Aldo have shuffled many of the top cards for the fall season. With the rash of injuries, the UFC momentum has slowed down considerably. But with a great showing in Montreal and great fights, it all can be regained going into 2013.
