Carlos Condit squares off against longtime welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre tonight at UFC 154, where he hopes to capture the UFC welterweight title and end GSP‘s reign of invincibility.
To earn this grand opportunity, Condit ran a gauntlet of welterweight contenders, including Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy, Dong Hyun Kim and former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz.
Not bad, eh? (Sorry, I’ve been practicing my Canadian lingo for these fights.)
The final of these fights saw Condit capture the UFC’s interim title, and boy was it a battle to behold. People still talk about this fight and hotly debate the victor.
Did Condit‘s strategy pay off, or did he fight like a wuss who was afraid to get hit?
Was Nick Diaz‘s pressure enough to win him the fight, or did he need to land more punches and get his hands on Condit? Should somebody have tried to take it to the ground?
These questions and plenty more still linger from this UFC 143 matchup, so watch the video and decide for yourself.
Here’s what I recommend:
Get out a piece of paper, write down important moments of each round and then objectively decide who won. Forget which fighter you like more, and focus on the scoring system to decide the interim champion.
Leave a comment to let me know who you think should be fighting GSP tonight after doing so.
