Carlos Condit has talked of his reaction to Rory MacDonald challenging him to a rematch moments after the Canadian’s victory at UFC on Fox 5 against BJ Penn.

It was a callout the fighter said he expected, even if he found it a little strange.

Talking to MMAjunkie.com, Condit said, “I kind of had a feeling that he was going to call me out…So I went over and, sure enough, he did.”

Condit and MacDonald first met in 2010 at UFC 115 when the former interim welterweight champion handed the Canadian his first loss.

It was a match MacDonald was winning going into the third and final round, but somehow, in the dying minutes, Condit was able to turn things around and hand the young fighter his first career loss.

That loss clearly stung. Moments after beating Penn, MacDonald began his campaign to avenge his loss to Condit.

He told Joe Rogan inside the Octagon that he was humiliated and embarrassed by Condit and that the loss still haunts him.

Although happy with the rematch, Condit is still perplexed by MacDonald’s attitude.

I think the whole thing was pretty, I don’t know, the tone of it made it seem like I had wronged him. Like I did something wrong. I was just doing what the hell I’m supposed to do…I think it’s probably the way that he lost. He was undefeated at that point. He was the man, the next big thing. I think he thinks it’s his destiny to be the champion, and I went in there and smashed that dream. So I can see it. But it’s a little bit odd, I think.

Condit is coming off a loss to long-time welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who is one of MacDonald’s training partners at the Tristar Gym in Montreal.

Condit is set to face MacDonald in a rematch at UFC 158 on Mar. 16, 2013 in Montreal. GSP is also slated to take on his adversary Nick Diaz on the same card for the 170-pound title.
