Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to do some last-minute shuffling for its upcoming UFC on ESPN 11 mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card, set for this Sat. night (June 20, 2020) inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s because Matt Frevola was pulled from the event after his cornerman and UFC fighter Billy Quarantillo tested positive for coronavirus. As a result, newcomer Justin Jaynes will step in on super-short notice to collide with Frank Camacho, according to MMA Junkie.

Jaynes (15-4) is the winner of four straight, having last competed at Warrior Xtreme Cagefighting (WXC) back in May. That’s where “Guitar Hero” stopped veteran slugger James Warfield by way of first-round technical knockout.

As for Camacho (22-8), he’s looking to rebound from his submission loss to Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 162 last October. “The Crank” has dropped three of his last four and is undoubtedly in a must-win situation.

UFC on ESPN 11 is topped by a heavyweight headliner featuring top-ranked bruisers Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. In addition, 145-pound upstart Shane Burgos collides with veteran knockout artist Josh Emmett in a battle for featherweight supremacy.

Bobby Gunn is accused of causing a head-on fatal collision in New Jersey last year.

According to Boxing Scene the New Jersey State Police issued an alert yesterday seeking the public’s help in finding former cruiserweight boxer, and bare knuckle fighter, Bobby Gunn, 46. The alert stated that Gunn is wanted for vehicular manslaughter.

Police suspect Gunn, who resided in Hackensack, NJ, of driving under the influence and then causing a collision in South Jersey on September 28, 2019. Gunn is accused of driving his Dodge Ram pickup truck into the wrong lane and hitting a Hyundai Elantra head on. Polly Tornari, 51, was killed in the collision. Her husband, Robert Tonari, was seriously injured.

Gunn was assessed to be under the influence during the time of the crash. He was only charged with vehicular manslaughter on Tuesday. The long period of time between the incident and formal charges is not unusual. It takes considerable time for forensic scientists to analyze scenes of vehicle accidents and determine what, if any, criminal charges are appropriate. UFC veteran Des Green experienced a similarly long period between being involved in a fatal collision and being charged with multiple counts of manslaughter.

New Jersey police believe Gunn was in Maricopa County, AZ in February. They are asking the public to call their Fugitive Unit tip line at 1-800-437-7839 if they have information on Gunn’s whereabouts. Callers may remain anonymous.

As a professional boxer Gunn amassed a 21-7-1-1 record between 1989 and 2017. During that time Gunn won the IBA World Cruiserweight Title and WBC, WBA and IBC Intercontinental Cruiserweight Title. His last bout was a loss to Roy Jones Jr. for the WBF World Cruiserweight Title.

Gunn is also a well-known bare knuckle boxer who claimed the lineal world heavyweight championship. In 2018 Gunn appeared at BKFC 1, defeating Irineau Beato Costa Jr. by first round KO.

Matt Frevola vs. Frank Camacho is off. Frevola has tested negative for COVID-19.

UFC lightweight Matt Frevola will no longer be facing off with Frank Camacho at UFC ESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov this weekend. The UFC has pulled him form the match-up after one of his corner’s — UFC featherweight Billy Quarantillo — tested positive for COVID-19.

Frevola broke the news of the positive test on his Instagram page.

The UFC has pulled me from my fight due to one of my cornerman testing positive for COVID-19. We did everything possible to make this fight happen. They tested me twice and both results came back negative. I also provided proof of my positive antibodies test from April 30th but the UFC did not want any liability or to risk it. Being that there is a lack of knowledge on the incubation period and still so many unknowns regarding covid 19, they decided to pull me bc of the positive test result from my teammate and brother, Billy Q. He’s been a huge help and source of support throughout camp and I have no hard feelings. He is 100% healthy at the moment and feels fine, so he must be a symptomatic. This is a Crazy situation and everything happens for a reason. I am on weight and prepared to the fullest. I was really excited for this fight with Frank and told him if they find him a new opponent for Saturday I will be rooting for him. If not, I’m willing to rebook this fight ASAP or when ever he wants. I’m sorry to everyone who was excited to watch me fight and supports me along this journey, I really felt the love ?? ? . Can’t believe I’m the first fighter to get 2 fights canceled due to this virus (without even having it) but I know it has effected a lot more lives in worse ways . Figuring out the next move from here and will keep moving forward, that’s what we do! Should be booked to fight again ASAP and hope the UFC continues to take care of me.

In his message Frevola revealed that he was tested for COVID-19 twice and each time the results came back negative. He said he also provided results from an antibodies test in order to convince the UFC to let the fight go ahead.

Frevola vs. Camacho was due to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday. That facility has hosted the last three UFC events, without fans, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Quarantillo competed on the first of those APEX-held cards (UFC on ESPN: Woodley vs. Burns). That event occurred roughly three weeks ago, on May 30. There Quarantillo bested Spike Carlyle via unanimous decision.

Quarantillo took to Instagram to state he was “heartbroken” for Frevola. He also stated that when he competed at the APEX he tested negative for COVID-19.

Heartbroken for my guy @steamrollafrevola_mma who worked so hard for this fight and now has had 2 fights cancelled because of Covid.. Two weeks ago when I fought in Vegas, I was negative for both tests… Since then I’ve had no symptoms, and if i did I never would have gotten on the flight to corner Matt. Still without symptoms, i will stay safe and stay away from everyone until I’m negative and the isolation time is over. Hopefully Matt gets taken care of and gets another fight ASAP

Frevola’s last fight in the UFC was all the way back in October 2019, at UFC fight Night: Joanna vs. Waterson. At that event he took a split decision over Luis Peña.

It is unclear if Frevola’s scheduled opponent, Frank Camacho, will remain on this weekend’s card.
