Blame Dan Henderson?

Former PRIDE Fighting Championship heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko, was knocked out by Ryan Bader at the Bellator 214 event last weekend in Inglewood, Calif., in just 35 seconds of the opening frame.

See it again here.

Whether or not that has to do with the fact that “The Last Emperor” is 42 years old and more than 40 fights into his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career is unknown, but Henderson believes Emelianenko’s best days are behind him.

“Damn good job from Bader, for sure. Fedor’s had kind of a suspect chin,” Henderson told Fight Hub TV. “He’s still super dangerous. I figured [Bader] would win but not quite in that manner. It seems like [Fedor] could be all used up, unfortunately, I would love to see him out there more, but…”

Henderson destroyed Emelianenko with his patented H-bomb under the Strikeforce banner back in summer 2011. It was the last time the Russian Sambo specialist would compete in North America before his Bellator MMA debut nearly six years later.

Following his loss to “Hendo,” Emelianenko put together five straight wins and currently sits at 2-2 under the Bellator banner, with wins over Chael Sonnen and Frank Mir. Where he goes from here, remains to be seen.

Conor McGregor’s coach believes the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion fighting Donald Cerrone would be a fight that fans want to see.

These two stars also appear to be down for the fight as there was speculation late last year and then earlier this month, they traded some words. These exchange is believed to be a sign that both fighters are willing to share the Octagon together.

In the mind of Owen Roddy, he believes that it’s a fan favorite fight due to the names involved. He also thinks it would be an exciting fight.

“The Cerrone one, it looks good,” Roddy told Eurobash. “It’s a fan favorite fight. Cerrone comes out and he looks to swing and Conor’s going to be looking to knock him out. The banter beforehand, I don’t see it being as [turbulent], I think it will be funny. Both guys will go back and forth and that will be exciting for fans. I think it would be a very exciting fight.”

Roddy understands that there has been some desire to see UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway fight McGregor. The only problem with that is the fact McGregor hasn’t seemed as interested in it compared to fighting Cerrone.

“[Holloway is] putting the digs in. I saw the post of him the other day in the Jameson [Distillery]…but I don’t know. I think the Cerrone one…because [McGregor and Cerrone] both engaged directly…Conor said he’d do it and then Cerrone said he’d do it…I think that might be in the pipeline,” he said.

“I can’t confirm that 100 percent obviously, but I think the fans would love it. It’s a great fight that people want to see. They can see the two of them in there, standing up and having a bang.”

Justin Gaethje wants to get paid more money by the UFC in case he passes away while fighting. That is a tough statement to make from a tough fighter. The former WSOF Champion is slated to fight Edson Barboza in a lightweight bout in the headliner of UFC On ESPN 2.

As seen in the main event of August’s UFC Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska, Gaethje was able to pick up the first-round KO win over James Vick. This served as his latest fight.

While doing a recent interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, he expressed his interest in getting paid more for his service.

“At the end of the day I may sound like a little bitch when all that comes out. I mean, I am getting, this is four out of five fights that I am main event. There is a reason for that. I would like to be compensated more fairly for those last two rounds,” said Justin.

“But, those two rounds, especially for someone like myself, are the most dangerous rounds that there are. If I do pass away or suffer a serious injury it will probably come in the fourth or fifth round. That’s my only complaint when it comes to that. But again, that’s a small complaint because I am getting a main event on ESPN. The eyeballs are going to be tremendous and it’s going to be great,” said Gaethje, while revealing headlining a UFC event nets a fighter an extra $25,000 payout on top of his or her salary.”

Gaethje continued by stating that in his case, these extra rounds take a toll on his body and wants to be compensated for that.

“I may sound like spoiled brat when I say an extra $25,000 is not enough, but it is not enough. Who knows what I will get paid, I don’t even want to say, but let’s say I get paid 100/100 for the first three rounds. Then I am getting paid $25,000 for the most crucial, most devastating to my health rounds that there are. And that’s rounds four and five,” he concluded.

UFC On ESPN 2 is set to take place on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main card will air on ESPN. The preliminary card will be split broadcasted on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET and the TV network’s streaming service, ESPN +.

It appears that the Netherlands anti-doping authority is investigating a few GLORY kickboxers for drug test irregularities.

According to a story from Dutch outlet Nieuwsuur, a few prominent kickboxers allegedly failed drug tests administered by the Netherlands anti-doping agency in 2017 and 2018. They all participated in GLORY kickboxing events in those years, and are facing up to four-year suspensions.

The two fighters with the biggest names would be Badr Hari and Hesdy Gerges, who fought each other at GLORY 45 in March 2018. The other two are Brazilian Ariel Machado and Croatian Mladen Brestovac.

While the linked article is in Dutch, here is an explanation of what it entails in English:

While it’s still unclear when the flagged drug tests were administered, Gerges and Hari haven’t fought since their GLORY 51 bout, which Hari won by unanimous decision. Brestovac last competed in the promotion at GLORY 54, where he dropped a decision to Rico Verhoeven. He has fought once outside the organization since then, an October win in FFC in Vegas. Machado hasn’t competed since 2017.

It appears that the fighters will submit statements to the commission overseeing things in the coming weeks, though as mentioned in the tweets, not all the fighters are actually clear about the circumstances surrounding the cases. More information regarding this issues should come to light soon enough.
